I have been playing around with my software and wanted to see what you all thought of a large 4 scene Gif that I made. I am getting ready to update my profile and not sure if I should continue doing the smaller one pie at a time Gif, or some of these larger, multi scene Gifs. What do you all think??
These might be too big. UMD is on a finite server after all, and there is also a point where many people's computer's can't handle them. Take a look at this thread, particularly MM's first reply where he says, "I might have to ban .gifs..."
At 87.5 MB my (old) computer nearly chokes on the first one. Made a smaller version shrinking the dimensions by 60% from 1016x679 pixels to 610x408, but it still weighed in at a robust 32.4 MB due to its length of 18 seconds. Compare the ParisPosx4.gif here https://umd.net/forums/pfg-suggestions#460259 which while still fairly large at 705x476 pixels, it weighs in at a not too bad 4.9 MB because the length is only 2.3 seconds. In the end of course they are equally long because they loop forever!
Don't mean to be a killjoy, just pointing out that there is a limit. Maybe you can start a Youtube account and upload the big boys there?
Thanks MrFred! Haven't seen that gfycat.com before, very cool idea. The homepage is a bit CPU intensive at first, but just right-click that large autoplaying video and choose "Pause" to stop that noise. Of course one should probably get a producer's permission before uploading their stuff there so they can look over the TOS and such: gfycat.com/terms. To me, multiple GIF displays are a visual feast. Pretty sure I'd enjoy Mr_Pies' efforts if I could only load them!
Hmmm..... Wonder how hard it would be to programmatically "gfycat" (convert) GIFs here. [pokes bear]
