I hear that from late 2020 some (or many?) of payment agencies of Japanese adult video online shops have accepted only credit cards issued by domestic card companies.

I don't know the exact reason, but I guess as below.

Visa and Master have not allowed that credit cards are used for payment of adult videos which contain features relate with violence, crime, underage characters, and so on, even if they are acting or fake.

And now they are strictly applying the rule worldwide more than before.

On the other hand, in Japan, there are a lot of adult videos containing factors such as "rape", "secret filming", "high-school student". (Of course they are fake and acting by adult.)
In early 2020, Japanese adult video online shops had begun to hide a single or several letters of forbidden words included in video titles to avoid Visa and Master's more rigorous guideline application. For example, they replaced "rape" to "r*pe", "high-school student" to "hi**-sch**l stu**nt".

I guess Visa and Master have stopped overlooking such loopholes in late 2020.
If that was the case, the problem is deep-rooted, and it maybe take long time to solve because Japanese adult video companies must change the trends and tastes of their products fundamentally.
