Hello all. Is there a page on here telling us how to make different substances? I am looking for a recipe on how to make a thick slime. Thanks in advance. Stay messy my friends. Sludge

Hi Messy People! I recently made a great substitute for tar. Here's what I combined: 2 Cake batter mixes (1 was for brownies, but it may not matter) 2 c flour About 1/2 cup vegetable oil (this helps prevent the awful globs of flour that stay on your skin and hair after you think you're clean!) 2 cups water I jar marshmallow fluff about 1 cup of black acrylic paint (I use heavy-bodied, student grade)
Use electric mixer so it's really mixed and smooth.
The thickness and feel was fantastic. It had a sheen from the sugary marshmallow fluff. Clean up was as easy as any kind of thick batter. Can't wait to make more. Would be great in a big bucket for dumping or in pies!

Hey Sludge, I moved this to the Messy forum because 1. I think you'll get more views there and 2. It's more on topic for getting messy than trying to meet someone like a personal ad. Another thing to check out is the UMD "wiki" which appears under the sites tab. We do have some decent information there and I think anyone can add to it.
As an aside here, if you got a recipe you would like to share with members here, feel free to post it there and maybe make a little thread reminding people to check out the wiki for new ideas and messes.
I hope this helps for you.
As for my personal advice, I personally love methylcellulose. You can change the thickness both with the temperature of the water, as well as the ratio of powder to water you use. If you want color and I recall correctly, you want to mix your color into the plain water before you mix the water with the powder. Natrosol works nicely too, but I don't know how thick it can get personally. Alternately, you can do cake batter too!
Hopefully some others with a lot more experience than me chime in.
With most of the gunge such as Hydroxy Ethyl Cellulose or Methyl Cellulose you just don't use so much water. You can get it very thick without any problems. Xanthan doesn't seem to thicken up quite as much as the others.

I was hoping someone like Dave or Leon chimed in. This guy knows his stuff, he's been using it and selling it for years!
