I'm completely open about it, all my friends know what I do and am into, never been a problem. Anyone who did have an issue with it probably isn't someone I'd want in my close friends circle. I don't have any living relatives though, people with families may have a more complicated situation.
Also keep in mind that if you die suddenly your mom or whoever is going to come across your weird porn stash. When you look up and see the falling piano your last thought will be, "Fuck, I really should have password protected that Messygirl fold--" SPLAT

This is why you need a shovel buddy.
I don't have anyone to hide mine now. Now, I can enjoy all the feelings of emptiness from porn and masturbation whenever I want!
When I was just a wee lad and sharing the family computer, I would hide things in a windows system folder and change file extensions so that they had to be changed back to see them (I'm really dating myself here, but mostly gif and jpegs). Since I'm old now and usually don't have anyone snooping on my computer (and if they did then "WTF were YOU doing snooping on my laptop?"), I mostly keep them in my downloads folder. With age comes privileges... I also have a couple of designated laptop friends who's job it is to throw my laptop into the Ohio river if I die unexpectedly so my browser history stays hidden and my good name unsullied, lol.
I use linux so no one wants to use my computer anyway. That said, if someone snooped into the directory cleared labeled "Porn", that's their problem, not mine.

Exactly THIS. Which reminds me, most of my trusted friends have moved across the country now. I'm in desperate need of a new shovel buddy. I've had a couple close calls just last summer even.
I use a program called VeraCrypt. It allows you to create an encrypted container that you can mount using a password and then dismount when your done. The only trick is hiding the however big container in your directory. I just renamed mine to have a .cab extension so that if anyone tried to open it by normal means Windows would just throw up an error.
I also have some stuff on memory stick locked up in a closet. Those would indeed be found. I console myself with the fact that the embarrassment and humiliation that would result would not be an issue because I am dead. All earthly worries are behind me.
And you know, I have discovered other people's collections and I am only mildly intrigued. I am not surprised, I do not label them a perv, and don't i about it much after that.
Everything video/photo I have is on google drive using a different email address. If I die, or even if someone got a hold of my laptop, they could rip it apart and not find a single thing. Also what I love about using Drive is I can watch the vids without downloading them.
I maintain 3 concurrent copies of my production archive which spans every digital photo and video I've shot since 1998. I keep 2 onsite and one offsite at a trusted friends place in case I get robbed or my house burns down. Everything is stored on encrypted partitions but more for security than alleviation of embarrassment
Dedicated SSD Hardrive is where I keep all mine. No-body apart from me ventures onto my PC etc. so I don't really have an issue. I keep it all on an external hardrive for potential HDD failure more than anything.
