Things as in finding people to WAM with, or more general?
Ever been to the UK before?
How long are you visiting for, just a couple of days of a full month-long holiday?
Main advice: Don't bother renting a car unless you plan to explore the countryside in a fair bit of detail. You can get to every city and almost every town in Britain by train, and anywhere in London by train / Tube / DLR / bus / Boris Bike. Driving in London is an exercise for extreme massochists, or people delivering large and heavy items, only. Unless you have a fetish for trafffic jams, in which case, rent a car and drive in London in the rush hour.

I plan on staying for about 5 days. I'm going to try and stay near the Holborn stop on the blue line so I can get from and to Heathrow. I'm assuming the brits don't take kindly to us Mericans?

Worse still, try driving in Bristol. The average speed of rush-hour traffic in London is 8mph; in Bristol it's 6mph, and between Bath and Bristol it's 4mph; it's as quick to take a brisk walk as it is to drive. We have a traffic engineer or similar on this forum, and he came to a Bristol Splunch by car. Having been here about 30 minutes he said "Boy, you've got big problems here!"

I've been to the UK and Europe a few times, and never had any issues with people treating me poorly because I am from the United States. Just be polite and treat people how you'd expect to be treated, and you'll be fine.

The Piccadilly line - good idea. There is the much faster Heathrow Express to Paddington but that costs a lot more. Piccadily line tube takes about an hour from Heathrow to Central London.
There's no general anti-American feeling in the UK, you're a very long term ally. A lot of us thought Trump was the worst US president ever and that people must have been mad to vote for him, but then people here voted for Boris Johnston's government so that's probably a draw.
I'm sure if you wanted it, some kind of mini-Splunch could be set up, London's easy for most of us to get to - we're not far from Leeds, which is only 200 miles from London, 2.5 hours on the train, and there are two or three trains an hour each way from 6am to almost midnight.

Mini-Splunch? Do tell...... I've been to Rome, Paris, and Barcelona and I've never had any issues as an American. Probably should have never brought that up. Besides, at DeGaulle, a Sikh man came up to me and started speaking to me in his language (probably punjabi). I'm sure I won't stick out like a sore thumb unless I wore my "born in the USA" shirt. Oh, and that shirt is obviously about the Bruce Springsteen song.

Back in the time I used to do a fair bit of travelling, normally went and paid the extra for the Heathrow express, but if it was earlier and didn't need to get somewhere, then Heathrow connect (I think it is now rebranded as TFL rail in preparation for Crossrail) which is cheaper and also goes into Paddington. Both are definitely quieter, and IMO more comfortable than the tube!
If you want the easiest way around the transport network, while it does cost a fiver, it's well worth picking up an oyster card - and depending how much you are travelling in London itself, it can work out cheaper than travelcards (as well as being far quicker through the gates!).
Potatoman-J said: Also, what are your gas prices like now? Ours just about doubled in the last week.
I put some fuel in on Wednesday that was £1.89.9 a litre - that's the equivalent of $9.40 a US gallon! Average price right now is about £1.60 a litre, or $8.64 per US gallon.
Edit: Just seen some in Canterbury for £2.01.9 a litre, or almost exactly $10 for each US gallon!
