I dissed the producers for blowing it after some very active participation by Rob Blaine and Dave Lodoski. It left a bad taste for future cooperation with television types.
Then we were contacted by producers at VICE wanting to do an episode on QS fetish related interests. After the usual initial skepticism we got it together with these guys and facilitated meetings with Nessie and Fred at Studio 588. The VICE people stumbled a bit as well before handing the job to another producer named Jedd. He's the tall bearded follow in all of the attached images. Jedd was much better to deal with and in the end they actually did a pretty good job with this. It's not the only television contact we've had but it was definitely the easiest to work with. They did a far, far, better job representing the respective community than HBO and didn't rip us off either.
Attached are some behind the scenes photos of the VICE guys at Camp MPV. Jedd wanted to try out the gully peat bog so we left him in the hands of experts. The ladies had an excellent time taking him through the paces of sinking and getting cleaned up. My favorite photo is one where all three ladies spontaneously broke into demonstrating ear cleaning technique.
So anyhow, dealing with "mainstream" media people isn't always a bad experience. You can check out the very good little documentary they aired at the link below. There's some interesting bts moments and talking to the ladies. There's also a segment with Nessie taking Jedd into her swamp that is priceless.
