For some time now me and my bf have been looking at building a reliable gunge tank.
Our previous design ended in disaster and was too cumbersome to move around. Previously it had a wood frame and used compressed air to push the gunge/chocolate/ect out. What we discovered was most plumbing fixtures (shower heads) did not like the increase in pressure and would burst with thicker liquids. We want a gunge booth that can be operated by the user sitting down if need be and can fit into tight spaces.
So with version 2 we were looking at going with a design that used an electrically activated butterfly valve. We discovered that we could get a large butterfly valve cheap, but the electrical actuator would add $$$. A decent valve with actuator would run about $500+. We are not going with a pull the string style tank. We want some thing that can be controlled by a micro controller.
After viewing some videos in action it is basically a slide that moves back and forth and use a solenoid. They are used to hold back the grey/waste water in RVs and allow the elderly to drain the tanks with out having to bend over and unscrew the cap. It is water tight so long as debris does not get stuck in the seal and it connects to a 3 inch PVC pipe. It operates on 12 volts and has the compete wiring harness.
The goal is to have some kind of system controlled by a micro-controller connected to a waterproof switch panel. That way reaction time games can be played. Fail to many times and the gunge comes down.
