Hi all. Not sure if i am posting this in the right place, but hopefully it will find you well. I have recently successfully designed and made a fully functioning gunge drop mechanism. Essentially it is a large bucket with a hole through which gunge is released by being activated by a pull chain. I am thoroughly pleased with it and it created a great flow even when using thick gunge. I was wondering if anybody was looking for one as i was thinking of making more to sell within the UK base. Let me know if you are interested and i can post some photos. Its quite small and i made it to fit over a set of steps. It is just the release mechanism, not a fully enlosed tank. Thanks
I guess you could say that! Simple things are the often the best! But made a pivoting section for the chain pull. Bit of ingenuity and thought to make it work really well. The joys of solo gunging i guess...except now my wife has control of the chain! Will do TimW2009. Cheers
Here are a few shots of it. Couldnt send them to you individually but at least this gives you a good idea. PM if you are interested and we can discuss.
Ok, i have done some costing out to make a gunge release mechanism for you and planned to make some modifications and improvements to my prototype. Taking account of material costs and labour time plus shipping within the UK i am happy to do it for £100 all in. This will include a base board onto which the mechanism is mounted and the bucket/vessel to hold the gunge. Happy to take dimensions from you to make sure it is bespoke and can be suitably mounted over whatever you intend to stand it on (i.e stepladder, gunge tank / cubicle) and unless its excessive in size it wont affect the price. This is accounting for approximately £30 in materials, £20 postage estimate depending on packaging dimensions and labour at £50 for 2-3 hours work. If you wanted to increase to a larger container like a plastic storage box, this would reflect in the price adjustment as they cost more bearing in mind it would need to be a sturdy one to hold a large quantity of heavy liquid. If you want to go ahead i would request that we arrange for you to pay me a £25 deposit via Paypal so i can begin purchasing and making before paying the final balance before i dispatch it to you. I will of course send you photographs of the finished article beforehand too. I may have to put tgis through ebay and send you a link to purchase. I would be looking at lead time of a week or so given i need to fit it in around work during evenings etc plus dispatch time. Let me know what you think and we can exchange email addresses etc. Kind regards
Thanks for the suggestion. I did consider these initially but like the pull cord and physical dump of the gunge...plus, who wants to control the flow?! Thats the beauty, once its coming its an unstoppable deluge of delightful slop!

You can attach a lever arm to the valve and then tie a string to it. It's a much simpler, more reliable mechanism which is also less likely to develop rot issues (since there's no wood). The main difficulty is how you would seal the point where the valve and bucket meet. That could probably be accomplished with some epoxy though (or Gorilla Glue https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Original-Glue-oz-Brown/dp/B0000223UV), so I wouldn't expect it to be too much of a concern.
Another option is to use a solenoid valve so you could use a button to activate instead of a string. This is more complicated and expensive however and would need to be waterproofed to avoid short-circuiting the system (though it wouldn't pose any harm to the individual since you'd probably just use a AA battery or something along those lines).
