I can think of much better things than just water to do to that fine leather. If your going to take a chance of ruining it you may as well jump in with both feet and do it
But I've never felt it was that good for wamming. A lot of time, water just runs off it, and it doesn't even really seem wet (at least in pictures). And a lot of messes just slide down off it. You get some residue that messes the leather, but not really the messy effect that other clothes show.
With real leather it usually works quite well. Unfortunately, (as far as I am concerned) the vast majority of what it produced today is done using imitation leather, or pleather as it is also known. And as such, it has all the response to being wet and/or messy as a plastic bin bag.
