Hi I found this great documentary from Vice about quicksand that features some of UMDs best producers, Dave Lodoski of MPV, Nessie and others. The first five minutes talk about the old Hollywood quicksand days but then a great piece about MPV. Make sure you check it all out.
While quicksand isn't my particular thing, I can totally understand why people like it after watching this. The video was a very interesting. And honestly, a very fun watch.
The owners of VICE Media announced just yesterday it was suspending operations, with no word on the fate of its existing content, so if you liked this video, you'd better save it.
I remember watching this documentary not long after it came out. Really well done. Would have been nice to have such documentary on Mud Wrestling.. showing how it started in movies, with the peak of popularity in the 80s.
Dave has a youtube chain that goes more in depth on MPV productions. It is really interesting to have that behind the scene view.

Thank you (and the OP as well) for the nod. I have been contemplating an MPV Trails episode about the whole VICE experience. Maybe this is the push I need.
Meanwhile, VICE put us in a very even-handed (almost friendly) light. We said at the time (and it's still true) that nobody would ever give the quicksand kink a better shake than that.
