They're a MUST for me.. mostly when played off as by accident (slapstick, humiliation, etc.) I would love it if producers used them more often.. they are tricky to shoot, but even ones with multiple shots or even simulated ones do the trick, too.. anyone else love them ?
I LOVE face plants, whether they are in cakes, pies, mud, or other messy substances!
In the 1981 movie "Back Roads", with Sally Fields & Tommy Lee Jones, Sally gets dropped in a muddy water puddle. She gets up and then slips and does a face plant in the muddy water.
The scene starts around 50:00 (the vid is cued at 48:00)
In "McLintock" (in another thread), after Maureen O'Hara slides down into the mud and is complaining, John Wayne says, "At least we saved your hat", at which point Maureen turns to go and slips and does a nice face plant in to the mud!
In the 1st, the lady is beautiful , and I love those kinds of old-fashioned dresses! And she does the old "face plant, try to get up, slip, 2nd face plant" which is funny and hot!
The lady in the 2nd one is cute, and she gets pretty messy with the pie! I love that her hair falls forward, and is covered also, and sticking all over to her face! She (or the person directing) knows her comedy tropes, because she also does the "slip, and 2nd face plant"! And then she does a "bonus" 3rd one, just because! I loved how she was laughing at the end!
I also love that "Backroads" scene, Norm as well as Debbie Reynold's faceplant in "The Second Time Around" (starts at the 26 minute mark here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ro7ue_the-second-time-around-1961-1-2_lifestyle). But my favorite will probably always be Joan Hackett's in "Support Your Local Sheriff" which for some reason has been hard for me to get a hold of again. It hasn't been on YouTube for a while (for free anyway), and the one time I was able to capture it on TV they EDITED parts of the scene out At least I have a lo-fi capture of the faceplant (GIF below, as well as a behind the scenes pic). Like that scene so much that even the music turns me on!

I think "Support Your Local Sheriff" is hilarious, PERIOD!
All the satire and James Garner's deadpan delivery (and crazy-great ideas) during the movie keeps me watching it again & again!
Then all the slapstick things that humiliate Prudy are great, especially the mud fight!
And yes, one of the best (if not THE best) mud face plants in cinematic history!
Specially when after up her face, look front and spits out slowly the mud, pie or whatever she falled over!! Like the one with the girl falling on a pie...
In fact I ordered a custom with her (collegestudent3) and she cheated on me... And I lost 21$!!
The LOST mud scene has a great Evangeline Lilly faceplant. The RELIC HUNTER mud fight starts with a double faceplant. And that Susan Dey scene that came up last week, which I'd totally forgotten about, is another good one.
I like these too, as you can see, and they are indeed disappointingly rare in wam videos. A good example of the kind of thing that makes us long for good mainstream scenes, even with the huge variety of messy vids being made for the fetish market now.
