In the past purchases from the UMD showed up (I believe) as just EPOCH.COM. I went to buy a few things yesterday and the epoch site said they would show up as:
EPOCH.COM * LOVERBUNSL
So.. for those of us who have spouses that manage the credit card statements - it's easy to pass EPOCH.COM off as software purchases - having LOVERBUNS on the statement makes it a lot harder to do so, and I abandoned my purchase.
I guess we could have the debate about healthy relationships, hiding things, separate cards, blah, blah, but let's just assume that I'm happy with my marriage and would just like to buy a few videos now and again without having the equivalent of "SEX TOYS" printed on the plain brown wrapping.
Can anyone confirm that purchases actually show up like this on your statement? And/or is it possible to change what appears to BORINGCORP or something?

I've got to agree. I got some vids though Epoch the other day. I'm just waiting to see what my wife says IF she sees it!
Why can't it just say "Epoch" or something similar. It's been 30 years since people had to worry about packages coming in the mail that had garish ads (or return addresses for "Bob's Sex Shop") all over them for "Sex toys" (like you said). Now, in the computer age, we seem to be back to the same thing.
There is no good solution to this, though. Even if it just said "Epoch", just try googling "Epoch credit card charge" and see what you get. It doesn't take much digging before you find out it's a merchant services provider that deals primarily with adult websites. It would be only slightly less innocuous than having something like "loverbuns" in the merchant name.
If you're concerned about your SO finding it, you need to have a separate card and configure it at the bank so statements aren't mailed out.
That is hilarious (about the google search now pointing here). Pre-paid cards had honestly not even crossed my mind. Seems like a good solution, maybe even a mention of this should be made on the site somewhere, for all of us that are in the same boat?
Feel free to delete this thread (although I still maintain that having your prurient business named LoverBuns is ridiculous).
