I'm looking to strike another idea off my custom shoot list but have been struggling to find a producer with the right equipment and know how to do justice to a slow motion wam scene.
Are there any producers here reading this who think they might be able to/interested in giving this a go? Has anyone else had a slow motion custom done before and can recommend a producer? I'd really appreciate any help.
i have seen vids done with the Phantom cameras if you look up the Slo Mo Guys on You Tube then you can see how well that the can be done. one of my faves is the Giant Water ballon one
We've used a GoPro Hero 2 a bunch, and it has nice slow-motion ability. I just haven't managed to use it exactly right, yet. Trouble was, I could never really get the frame right because there's no view screen. Well, we finally got the add-on view screen. Now I just need to get my wife to cooperate to make a proper falling-into-mud scene... Usually I am chasing her ass around trying to get photos of everything as she laughs at me. This fall I hope to get it right.
Who was behind hispeedwam.com? Maybe they are lurking and your post will wake them up or maybe they are waiting for a hero like you to give a boost to the speed of wam. I don't have a high speed camera. I can be quite the sloth though and I'm sure I could make some hella thick gunge. The only problem is I'm not sure if I could fake the sounds correctly so I'd do it at a discount...
The other obvious option is get some models painted up like crash test dummies then sneak onto a crash test facility and use their cameras. You might even be able to see what happens when you accelerate a cake to 60 mph. *Spoiler* After a montage of shots of me doing intense calculations I've concluded that two cakes traveling towards each other at 60 mph will in fact make a mess.
@Leah (or her partner/producer): Thanks for the camera recommendations. I've only ever had quick test run with a mid-spec Olympus I-speed model myself which, while it was fairly impressive, showed that I'd need to be putting a lot more time and effort into it than I can afford at the moment to get the kind of output quality that I'm looking for.
@SploshMe: As a fan of some of your earlier stuff, if you ever do... I'm there!
@Redacted: From what I remember of HiSpeedWAM, I don't think the odds of a return are all that high. The crash test site idea sounds fun though. I'd love to see the looks on the faces of anyone catching someone hooking a van load of custard up to their equipment.
