Hey folks! Time to roll out some of the edits here in SlapstickStuff land... For those who might've missed Devan, this is a surprisingly great volume and our last EVER standard-def shoot. (For what it's worth.) And all three scenes are just $5 each right now in the ORIGINAL Download Store! slapstickstuff.vidown.com
In hindsight, it's a shame I only shot with this girl once... Cuz Devan has both that super-cute "beach bunny" look AND was super-chill throughout all three scenes. It's kinda amazing how much mess she took in each scene without batting an eye. (To wit: Multiple marshmallow cream pies, multiple chocolate face dunkings, multiple flourings...) In the final scene, her entire head, hair, and body were COVERED. But she just kept laughing throughout the whole experience! (For contrast, my most recent shoot was with another very cute beach bunny who was NOT super chill... VERY high maintenance... and more than a little vocal as to how messy she was getting as each scene progressed. But that's another story...)
Anyway. All three Devan clips are now just $5 each in the store, or $6.99 for the full DVD MPEG versions. (And yes, you can now get this on DVD too! Go nuts, old-schoolers!) A handful of sample pics are below... Enjoy!
Well, I screen all my models pretty well now, so it's been YEARS since I've had a "bad egg"... i.e. a model who just doesn't like the shoot whatsoever. The last time was Volume 77, and I offered to end the shoot early but (obviously) not pay the two models as much. (Surprise! They wanted the full payment so we kept shooting!) I personally thought that one was crap, but it's sold WAAAAY more than a lot of very good videos I've released... So who knows??
Anyway. This recent "high maintenance" model wasn't that bad. It was just funny how freaked out she was over getting pied, especially for the first scene. BUT it manifested itself in ways that I think my customers would appreciate: She would squeal after getting pied, she barely wiped off between hits, and she had this "I can NOT believe you did that to me" attitude that a lot of models try (badly) to fake.
And the cool thing was... She started appreciating it as the shoot went on! By the final scene she was laughing and being goofy about the whole thing. So in that scenario, "high maintenance" was an advantage... especially since my best sellers tend to be the super-glam girls who look like they would NEVER take a pie. (Until they do.)
By contrast, Devan is just sweet, chill, and game for whatever... And her sales have been TERRIBLE so far. Oh well! I guess that's why it's been in the vault so long!!
Yeah, but it's not just me. ALL people who deal with models have their own horror stories... Both Meg and Jill (former models of mine) run agencies now and you should hear the stories they tell!
And while I'm pretty honest about all the BTS "work" to get to the shoot itself, I've actually had a pretty smooth ride lately. Since coming back from hiatus, my ONLY "flakes" include Kristina bailing when her mom got sick (she came back to do it though, and that was SS127)... Britney getting tied up in traffic and "something" to where we rescheduled for the following day (which was SS118)... And a cute friend of Shelly's bailing the night before. (Shelly shot solo.) It helps that I talk to all models extensively beforehand, and stay in constant communication.... Plus I have better "instincts" for who's gonna work vs. who's gonna flake.
But just for comparison, I heard through the grapevine that a former model of mine was shooting with a different producer... He was gonna pay her $800 (!!) for a short shoot... And then she didn't show up! WOW. Just... WOW.
Mapwhap1 said: $800?!?! I had no idea the going rate was so high these days....or that models had life so good that they could turn their nose up at 800 bucks and not show up.
Most can't. This one could, I guess. Let's just say I have no desire to work with her again.
$100 per scene is probably the minimum for a model now. (And that doesn't include the cost of my supplies, plus time and labor.) A more experienced model or one from out-of-town could easily double that.
For my first shoot in 2004, I think I paid Liz $150 total? And we shot 5 scenes. I released all 5 on VHS and sold the tapes for $35 each... About 30 people bought them in the first two weeks.
Today, that same shoot would cost me closer to $700... And I'd be lucky to get 30 people buying a $5 download. Progress!!! :-S
