I selected this for the non-wam forum because there is a Buddhist religious element to this spring water festival in China. It takes place in Yunnan Province in mid-April and is celebrated by the Dai ethnic minority. The festival has become commercialized and attracts tourists but people still use the occasion to wash statues of Buddha with water. this sounds like the same festival that happens in Thailand about the same time-frame, known as "Songkran" (hmm, Lemme check that spelling...)

I recall MANY Songkran videos from y2k era, not sure why the interest has diminished? I suppose i might still try to plan a trip sometime? I'd definitely choose Thailand over China, though...
