I have a question and situation Im not sure about. My parents got on my case on how I send money online how much i spend. There is money stuff I am deal with i will get refunded after. Im wondering if i and should change my account info without telling my parents? I would argue when they find out that Im 27 and have my own job i decide what do with my info myself they can get bill at end showing how much I spend.
So, as I understand it: * You're 27 years old. * You have a job. * You live with your parents, and they don't charge you for rent or food. * Your mother has looked at your credit card bill, and she's concerned that you're addicted based on how much/how often you're spending money on WAM stuff. * You now want a separate credit card/bank account so that you can spend money without them knowing about it.
Is that all correct?
Do your parents have a password for your online banking or are they looking at the paper statements/bills that come through the post? Also, who is paying off the balance: you or your parents?
Legally, you could certainly stop your parents from looking at your account. However, legally they could also kick you out and make you pay rent elsewhere, so be careful about escalating this to a confrontation.
Do you have a budget? I think that would be a good place to start. I use Excel, and then I add up all the money I spend on various things. (I can elaborate on that if you need more help.) I think it's reasonable to have an entry for "fun money". That could include WAM videos, or a pizza takeaway, or going to the cinema, etc. You can then talk to your parents about how much it's reasonable to spend on that category.

One other point on this: if you're buying stuff for work, then claiming it back on expenses, that's fine. Just make sure that you keep a record of it, and get your expense forms in as soon as possible.
However, at the risk of stating the obvious, do be careful about "419" scams: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam That's where you get an email that says "I need to transfer 67 MILLION dollars out of the country and I want to use your bank account". If you agree, they then ask you to pay for a few fees up front; some people think "It's ok, I'll get all that money back later" but the money never comes.
