Messy and faces. It feels great to be covered in your fave mess, but when you get to your face, that's the bit that tips you over the edge. Same when watching clips, the face is an integral part there too.

Well the face is the most recognisable thing to humans. Our facial recognition is miraculous in that we can identify thousands of faces just from subtle differences, but also it's the hallmark of that person.
Personally my main thing is hair on a lady but the face is where all expression and identity and most beauty lies, so it's like the mess is multiplied by the face.
It's also the most sensitive part of the body in terms of touch, so feeling any change of temperature or texture on your face is heightened compared to the hands. And seeing that on someone else is also powerful
It's impossible to maintain your dignity when your face is covered in pies or slime or other mess. No matter what you do, you're going to look silly and ridiculous with a goopy face, and that's pretty humiliating. Thus, it's a turn on. At least, that's how I view it.
I agree with the above and would add that, for me, seeing a face completely covered in pies or whatever (think of the Messygirl pudding baths!) dehumanises and anonymises a person to such a degree that they're degraded, which is a real-turn on for me in WAM.

To me, what matters most is the person and the emotions she's feeling. I could (almost) do without non-facial wam. I also don't like the face hidden under too much goop. You should be able to make out the eyes, a part of the eyebrows, and mouth, so an expression can be conveyed, IMO.
For me, face and hair coverage are a must. The other thing that turns me on is messing up the clothes. Ladies are supposed to be beautiful with nicely done hair, makeup and beautiful clothes and WAM just destroys that image. I think it is so sexy for a lady to get messed up!

Personally I tend to like degradation more so in a bondage/bdsm context. If a wam scene has a dominant/submissive theme to it then facial coverage is nice, if not then I don't care that much about facial coverage. I am probably in the minority on this but I also prefer seeing translucent substances on a woman's face. If she's hot then I'd still like to be able to see that she's hot!

I like full coverage of the face, all beauty completely covered under some anonymizing substance. Leaving the face clean is pretty boring from my point of view.
See for me, personally its more about the hair than it is the face... I believe part of the reason for this is because growing up you learn that girls "value their hair" so theres something inside you that just kindof likes the idea of "messing it up" for them... but another thing too i think that whenever someone is covered in, lets say a translucent substance like syrup it creates this weird visual effect that i personally think enhances certain features... and as the OP said, everyone has that slightly different thing that does it for them, but yeah i think it all generally touches the same concepts...
