I always have to mix Cool Whip with frosting in order to thicken it up, and I'm curious to see if Rich's is a better ready-made option, especially because it comes in a squirt pouch.
I think I've seen Messygirl use the stuff, does anyone else have experience with both and is able to talk about the pros and cons?
I don't have experience with that particular product, but if you are able to find Rich's Whipped Topping (their version of Cool Whip, comes in a same sized tub) anywhere local to you - it is far superior to Cool Whip - extremely thick and doesn't really melt at all!
I'm guessing you're looking for the convenience of premade but I've found that any of the non dairy whipped topping (dream whip or generic) is more like the frosting mixed with cool whip in consistency and way it sticks. But you do have to make it from a powder. Keep us posted on how Rich's is! I've seen it plenty in stores and was tempted but never tried it
Presentation-wise wise its a 10/10, the whipped icing is super messy too and brightly colored, it has a thicker texture like frosting but the same feel as Cool Whip. It makes super messy pies and stays together for a decent amount of time. You can sometimes find chocolate or strawberry flavors as well and having it in a piping bag is nice for topping pies. The Pic with the blue is the riches on top whipped topping and the pink is strawberry whipped icing, which is also pretty good. CON is its not always readily available I have seen it in Gordon food Service stores as they regularly have it but nowhere else and it is more expensive than cool whip.
I wonder how different Rich's is compared to say what heavy cream we can purchase at Kroger, H.E.B., and similar supermarkets in the US? We've used such heavy creams and whipped them up quickly using a hand mixer. Stuff works great!
I love it. They also sell it in tubs. I sometimes use the tubs to refill the bag. The best part of the bags is they can be used to fill your underwear or ballons, whatever you want. Its thicker than coolwhip so it has staying power too.
But yes. I'll use. one to fill my underwear while I get the room ready (tarpped off). The pies at GFS are awesome too. They also sell gallon cans of pudding. Its a one stop shop pretty much. But the bags are very useful! let your imagine go and buy a dozen.
