I took to enjoying watching Rugby Union after seeing the 7s in the Olympics, and even went to the 7s World Cup, and the nearest international 15s exhibition in person.
Now I am finding Premiership and Pro14 matches on cable and streaming here in the US, but I haven't settled on favorite squads in each (except not Saracens, as the names' derivation reminds me of cultural appropriation at best and NFL's Washington Redskins at worst.)
So I figured I'd check here and see if there were UMD producers, models, or members that were loyal fans of one of these squads and wanted another to join them 6 time zones away....
Well, for a bit of history, when I started school, the PE teacher (sports) was Bill McLaren, the chap who did the TV rugby commentary (I've I'd lived 14 miles away, it would have been the chap who did he commentary on the radio...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqIaXLBk5tQ In those days Bill was THE voice of rugby, as Murray Walker WAS motorsport, Ted Lowe was snooker, Peter O'Sullivan was horse racing, Of course, Mr McLaren was just the PE teacher... I went to school with folks who have played for Scotland, which I guess isn't a bad thing really, kids playing in the streets, going to the local school can make i to the top of professional sport. It's strange, but when you grow up in the heart of something, you don't always recognise just how big it is, it's quite strange when you're down in Bristol and the jersey you're wearing is recognised sparking a converstion on the train! Not bad i guess for a wee town team really!
If you need further persuasion, Scotland is home to Doddie Weir, (once described as a mad giraffe) https://www.myname5doddie.co.uk/ Scotland v New Zealand for his charity is quite possibly the greatest game of rugby ever.
