So.... Last week's show didn't get uploaded to YT, or the website, or ANYWHERE... For 6 days after the Sunday airing.
And when it did, it was basically worthless from every single standpoint. (YMMV.)
So once again, I say, "Good riddance, idiot show."

Come this Sunday, and the website throws up the entire episode within hours:

And then, in LITERALLY the first three minutes, we get the best pieing of the entire new season.

I have no idea if the rest of the episode is good, or terrible, as I only scanned to... ya know... the first 3 minutes.

This show. I want to quit you, but..............

HOLY HELL.
Best episode of this season by a factor of 10.
Guys suddenly remembered how to pie correctly... I counted 4 pieings during the main game, but all great to excellent.

Then the "lightning round" changed formats, where the team captain stands next to the other team's podium and pies them if they miss the question. Downside is a lack of closeups... Upside is SO many more pies.... I counted another 4-5 hits this way, all solid and with a minimum of screwing around.
And double upside: Thanks to this format, we FINALLY see some real aftermath... post-pie walking around, wiping up, etc.

And because Dani returned to be the captain.... You knew the guys were gonna get to win, and finally pie someone CORRECTLY.

This show. This frickin show. I wish I could quit you, Conexao...

The first pie-ing was Maide Mahl. It was a double pie and it was as close to a 10 as you can get. Total shellacking of her face and long curly hair. She took it like a champ too. This may have been the best pie of the season although there was a girl in the first episode who was similarly covered. She never returned.

The pies were much gooier this week and they adhered with a gentle touch to the face.

They probably threw more pies in the final 20 minutes than in any other 20 minute stretch of any episode including Chega Mais. (The water was removed from this segment!!)

If they keep the final 20 minute pie-only elimination format we're virtually guaranteed several decent pies.

This was an extremely rare episode where the men threw the pies with more gusto than the women. I can't remember that happening for a long time.

Btw, this was the (Dani) episode they were supposed to show last week.

I'm just gonna go with the theory that Dani is the difference maker. Not sure what it is with her personality, but almost every time she's in the mix (not even as a captain), the men drop the "white knight" shit and don't hold back.

Scanning through the footage, it seems like the male pieings weren't that great aside from the ones Dani did. And it was obvious they were eager to get revenge at the end. I would say this format will mean EVERY losing female gets pied the same way.... But we know that's not true. (Hell, Ana blew the last question... and instead of pieing her, the guy just ran away to celebrate with his teammates. Maybe she has a "do not pie" clause in her contract as a veteran.)

Anyway. GREAT episode. Literally nothing to complain about. What a weird feeling.

I would say this points to great things going forward... but this is CM, so next week could go back to being a giant cluster. (Hell, they switched weeks, so we already know what happened the next week.... and it WAS a giant cluster!!)

Agreed. This is why we come back and watch it. The big pie-off thing at the end is indeed a great new development, and maybe we will see closeups moving forward.

As Rich said, nothing to complain about but I will pick a nit. The final girl at the end of the pie-off, smokin hot in the black and white dress, avoided mess the enitire game, and wasn't pied at the end despite the women's team missing that question. The men were just more intent on making Dani pay...which was fine by me.

But the veteran models now are basically actors, years into the same roles. Super predictable. Just like Dani is the one who will DEFINITELY get the pie barrage from the guys, Ana (AKA Final Girl) is the one who acts like being pied is a personal affront. Her avoiding the pieing was.... predictable. If the guy had pied her, she would've turned away immediately and the camera would've cut to a different shot. Predictable.

Which is why I say: You never know. If last week's episode really WAS shot after this one, then our "great new development" has already been discarded after one lone week. Hell, I watched the end of last week's show... Not only were there no pies during the lightning round, but Token (the losing captain) just got watered at the end. No pies at all. No celebration. Just.... Odd.

Like I said, this show is bi-polar and dysfunctional and changes its mind week to week. And yet we can't quit it.

ooops I spoke too soon. I must have skipped past it (could never watch this show in real time). But she did get a quick pie at the end, with the plate sticking to her face for much of the camera time after the hit. But still she did get pied.

I must admit, I had completely given up on CM, but this changes everything. It's such a shock as well- where did THIS comes from?!

Great to see the sloppier pies back, they really make all the difference. Dani has always been one of my favourites, so it was nice to see her get plastered with pies at the end.

I know CM like to chop and change formats like there's no tomorrow, but I really liked the new segment at the end with the captains holding the pies. Unfortunately it'll probably last a week or two before they change it again (who knows, Curly might have finally talked the producers into a new round where all the remaining pies on set go in his face )

*** CM brings in girls who appear to be "ringers". The ringers get totally shellacked and conspicuously never return to the program.

*** The senior girls (Ana, Dani, Karol etc.) usually walk away spotless. If the senior girls are forced to take a pie it usually happens when the game temporarily careens out of the producers' control and the pie-ing is ultra polite.

*** With the Dani pie-ing all five guys threw their pies squarely in her face. Not a single strand of her hair got messy. Obviously that doesn't happen by accident. Compare that to the brutal final pies received by Curly or Ruda ("Token"). The veteran women write the rules.

*** That the final round has returned to all pies is a virtual admission of defeat from the producers. I remember reading comments (on FB and IG) that they were moving away from pies and abandoning the Chega Mais format. Yet now the program is essentially Chega Mais. They have an interview segment, balloons with colored water and an all pie finale. I guess they are desperate.

*** There's a possibility that Barbara was part of today's taping. Maybe someone with Snapchat can confirm this.

*** CM has a history of changing formats right when things start to go good (from a WAM perspective). Enjoy this while it lasts.

Counterpoint:

--I used to think the "ringers" were a thing too. Like, some girl gets totally destroyed (the one who took 3 pies at once last year during CM, the blonde who got wrap-around pied by Token) and then you never see her again. But closer inspection reveals that the girl was actually on the show pretty regularly... I just never noticed her because (surprise!) she didn't get messy before then.
I think it's more likely that a girl gets destroyed and just goes, "Not worth it" to the producers. FTR it happens with guys too. Some new dude last Christmas was the victim of "peak Barb," AKA one of those shows where she someone stayed spotless and her guy opponent got pied every time. This poor idiot took 5 pies during the show. Never returned.

--That said, I can't tell any of these new girls apart (besides the curly-haired black girl, and even she has a twin) so they might all be ringers. Who knows.

--"Senior girls" staying clean is a new phenomenon for this season only. Karla (not Karol??) would have weeks where she got well-pied. (The 7-pie week was a classic.) Dani got pied every time she showed up. (Some things don't change.) But Karla dodging pies in these new shows is a bad trend. Ana's been dodging pies for 6 months now, so nothing new there. Knockoff Cameron Diaz loves to dodge them too. I think it depends on the veteran.

--I only caught 3 pies for Dani, but yes, they avoided her hair. Basically every pieing this last show was great-to-fantastic, and practically all avoided the hair. I am MORE than fine with that compromise. Hair-only pies are like kissing your sister.
FYI Token gets pied all over because the dude has a frickin' bald head. That's a no-brainer. (The same thing would happen to a bald girl. Please CM, don't hire a bald model.) Curly gets pied in his hair because he's a douchebag with a Sideshow Bob haircut, and/or because he pays the girls in advance to do it. (Curly is to pies as Trump is to golden showers.)

--Barb likes to pretend CM doesn't exist on her social media. I don't think a single girl has provided evidence on social media of any CM pie activity in months. Maybe a year. The show is basically a 70-minute pie game but you'd never know that from their IG & FB accounts.

--The format of CM is like weather in the South. Don't like it? Wait a few hours. It'll be totally different.

--I hate that I'm re-invested in this show enough to keep up with CU's commentary. I'm sure that flicker of hope will be snuffed out hard this Sunday.
