Any tips on getting more vibrant/deeper colors while making cake batter slime? I see some pretty wild and crazy colors in other posts on here, from people who appear to be also using cake batter. True YCDTOTV green, deep purple (heh), wild blues. MWStore is a tremendous example of what I'm talking about, but I've seen others do it too.
The best I can usually manage is light green, pale blue, etc etc. For reference I've simply been mixing 3 boxes white cake mix and 6 cups water, with household store bought food coloring (20ish drops?). Am I being dumb and just not adding enough? Is the answer just to add a shitload of dye? Or is there something else I can buy? Any help would be so much appreciated.

Neil from Pie Fight Girls used cake batter slime, and claimed he only needed a few drops (like THREE MAX) for color. Maybe he used professional grade coloring, I'll try to ask.

One box of red velvet cake mix mixed with three boxes of white cake mix yields a pretty dark purpleish pinkish color, no food coloring required. I wish there were other cake mixes with different colors, but this appears to be the exception. Unless you consider yellow cake batter a thing, but to me, that's about like white cake batter.
There's no reason why, just because cake batter is edible, that colourings for WAM sessions/shoots are restricted to food colorings, is there?
There are so many non-toxic paints and dyes available now - including luminous ones. I know it ends up in mouths, but nobody's eating this stuff, after all (are they?)!

Recommend using children's poster paint (tempura paint), its fully non toxic and intended to be washable- so you're much much less likely to have issues with stained clothing/hair/skin etc...
And as it's poster paint you get a massive selection of vibrant colours, either as ready mixed paint, or as a dry pigment powder.
If you're after psychedelic colours and a thick opaque slime, try the "Clayzee Colours" from MessySupplies. The colour is a bright as it appears on the pack, and as its bentonite clay based the mix is fully opaque. I've found it's also a lot easier to wash off compared to normal gunge, but I haven't tested batter so I can't compare the two.
