With the imminent demise of everything that was ever great about CM (the original or the newer one), I was digging through some old videos and came across this pie segment from the original. I wasn't very familiar with it, as to my knowledge no one ever made excerpt videos from it and imagine my shock when I saw Curly give Barbara an excellent pie (at roughly 14:40). It's not a bad round either (Dani and Ana both get it repeatedly) so I'm amazed that I don't recall this one being discussed at length or seeing any excerpts make from it. Am I just dumb or oblivious that I hadn't seen it before or is this actually a forgotten gem featuring a great pie for the blond we all loved to see lose on this show?
The golden age of CM. When the pies were big, gooey and sloppy. Unlike the slim concrete pies they use now.
The look of utter anger on Barbara's face says it all. I like how Barbara motions to Curly that he's limited to throwing the pie in her face. That he better not even think of throwing the pie in her hair. After a couple seconds Barbara has had enough. She nearly breaks Curly's hand stopping the pie-ing.
Classic Barbara and classic CM.
CM really needs another crazy girl like Barbara. There's nothing better than watching a mean girl lose.
Discussed ad nauseum when it aired. The main "complaint" was that they focused on Curly being an imbecile and doing the split/fall onto the floor. (Because Curly being imbecile = Funny!!) With the camera not really catching the Barb aftermath. Eh. I thought it was a great pieing and you saw a lot of the aftermath, even if most wasn't in closeup (due to the Curly focus).
The precise reason Barb got pied so well was her anger when the guys tried to hit the hair. She'd do this move when they started going for the hair, where she'd GRAB the pie and shove it back into her face. Made from some amazing pieings even when the male idiot wasn't planning it. I think she's the only woman who ever did this.
The TRUE lost Barb pieing was when she pulled this move, but I suppose she was so angry about it that the producers immediately cut to a wide shot... and then cut away with zero aftermath. When she shows up later, she's still absolutely covered, so it must've been one hell of a pieing... That, thanks to CM's editing, we never actually saw.
If you actually find the unedited footage of THAT pieing, let me know! Rest assured, if a CM clip has been on YT for a year, I've already seen it so it's not "lost" to me.
