I know this is not on-topic, but I'd figured it would get the most readership here. Also, it's a nice break from the unhappy topics we have had on the board for the last week or so.
Just a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with cloud backup services in any way, and in all honestly they have been there for a while, so this is technically old news. But for those in the dark, for about $50-60 subscription fee per year, you can get unlimited cloud storage with one of these services like Crashplan and Backblaze, and I've been using it to upload and store a copy of my WAM files as a contingency in the event of data loss/corruption. What these services do is that they continuously scan for new files and upload them to the cloud, and it can work like a "real-time" backup service (that runs in the background) for a particular folder or harddrive.
Depending on how long you have been with UMD, your WAM collection can be worth anywhere from $100s to $10,000s, especially if you want to count the "manpower hours" invested into searching and downloading youtube videos, and that value is only going to increase with time.
So if you have a sizable collection, I would definitely look into one of these cloud backup services. You can even use it for your other files, as long as you are comfortable with co-mingling your fetish vids with other files that may be important to you.
No thanks. I have three 1TB portable hard drives, they get used very little, but store everything. I have them backed up on a larger HD as well. Cost of them all, about $150 - prefer that to risking using online storage, especially since these things can be hacked, shut down etc. Nah, feel safer with my drives and all my content downloaded and stored safely where i can access it anytime i want to and not need to have an internet connection
Note: The drives are used for work which take up a bulk of the space, but i always have space to backup my downloads as well
I have always been a redundancy kind of guy. I have always been a redundancy kind of guy.
I use Crash Plan, Amazon and also have everything on external drives. Storage is so insanely cheap, it's crazy not to have that kind of redundant backup for not only WAM stuff but for anything you do.
