I wondered, you lot, if your enjoyment of WAM videos was only a linear progression from clean to messy - or whether it was necessarily or desirably enhanced by constant reminders of the model's original state? Maybe an inset picture or a double screen? A juxtaposition? Multiple screens?
Ideas please.
(There have been a few threads about this before, including one by Messygirl. A general question about everyone's work not just about my videos)

Good question. I do like to compare before and after, although I'd probably find an inset screen of the clean model a bit annoying. Instead, I have my own DIY method.
I just have a second VLC player open, paused at a shot of the model clean, so at any time I can flick back to it and compare clean and messy. I love looking at a beautiful model, and thinking "That's who's covered in goo from head to toe on the other screen"

I would like to see full length clips cut like that. So I know it's hard work but perhaps offering up two cuts of the same movie with steady progression from clean to messy and another cut with the 'back and forth' 'reminders' might be really good.
Perhaps not financially viable in terms of work to download revenue returns but as an exercise in re-cutting shoots I think it is effective. In fact I'd like to see a few clips re-cut this way.
It might mean more shooting of clean footage to splice in but that could yield some cool stuff. I quite like the idea of footage of either the model getting ready (final applications of make up or hair styling) or posing in clean outfit, a bit of dialogue. If that is too long at the start of a shoot I think it may detract but splicing in some of that footage during the messy progression would be good.
Just my 10 cents - spend them wisely!!
TEN cents! You heard it here, folks!
Seriously, Drax, that's exactly how I like to cut things up, creatively (I'd hoped you'd approve).
When it comes to WAM scenes my mind flits here and there and all over the place! Abstract. Maybe even Cubist! The trailers are possibly the greatest delight to create.
But the buying customer - it's evident from the poll - prefers good old fashioned linear chronology. If that's what they want - that's what they'll get! But there'll also be just such a creative cut of each scene from now on, too.

Cubist WAM sounds amazing. Imagine the picture below if Picasso had only done it properly: "Girl with a Mandolin...covered in Custard".
But as you say, I'm not sure it would appeal to enough people...

LOL I think it was either Spielberg or Lucas who described themselves as a 'Cubist' film maker. I think I'm probably appropriating the art historical term as loosely as they were. Meaning just multidimensional or (and crucially) simultaneously faceted viewpoint.

I like to see a linear progression but at the end, a flashback to the model looking clean then a reminder of how she ended up. Someone did this once or twice but I can't remember who!
I definitely like the contrast between clean and messy, especially with still pictures where it's easy to put them in whatever order you like or juxtapose them side by side. That was one of the appeals of Splosh's magazine format. I don't know that an insert is the answer, but maybe a flashback would create the same effect. Or if you're going to use a split screen, why not have the model play twins, Goofus and Gallant style, one getting hopelessly messy while the other stays clean (for a while)? Great question, btw.
