hey guys im coming to the USA next year and want to hire a V8 muscle car for a few days, will be stopping on international drive, can anyone recommend places??
I generally use Enterprise rent-a-car because they tend to be a little cheaper. I've been upgraded to a Dodge Challenger a couple of times for like an extra $20. That was at a small-town airport.
It really depends on where you are. Larger tourist areas will have much better options. Cities like Honolulu and Las Vegas have companies that will rent you a Maserati, Lambo, HotRod Model-T, etc to drive around town. Vegas also has a race track where you can rent high-end stuff to drive on their closed course.
"International Drive" doesn't narrow things down. Every city has a street with that name
He must mean Orlando, because International Drive is the main street tourists stay at when visiting the Disney theme parks.
I can relate to his interest.....cos the first time I visited Orlando in 1979 I was visiting the USA for the first time and was keen to rent a gold Pontiac Firebird...same as the one driven by James Garner in The Rockford Files.....and I had as much fun driving that thing for 2 weeks as I had going to all the theme parks.
I am not the best person to ask because it has been 30 years since I last drove a muscle car (Ford Mustang). I was a wild child in the 1980's and had a Porsche and a Corvette....and 30 credit cards.....and after falling deeply in debt with a large house an underwater mortgage and 4 cars I could not afford....my wife convinced me it was time to "grow up" and get rid of my toys and tear up all my credit cards and just lead a simpler debt-free life, so today I am a boring guy who drives an old SUV. The only "thrill" I get these days....is looking at my near perfect credit score and being able to sleep better at night.
I don't live in Orlando (I am an hour away) so I do not know any car rental places in particular. I would just offer this advice.....if all you want is a V8 muscle car then you can rent those from any of the major credible rental car agencies (same ones you have in the UK) because they all have Mustangs, Camaros, Dodge Chargers for rent....so choose one of the big 5 companies and avoid those fly by night little companies that rent "supercars".....cos all you need is a muscle car....not a supercar.
I would suggest you ask your UK travel agent to recommend a rental car agency.
