Does anyone know whether natrosol gunge can go into a septic tank? I can't really see it causing a problem, unless you were getting through gallons and gallons of the stuff every month. Does anyone here have a septic tank - have you used gunge at home, have you had issues?

Buy some decent quality bin bags, probably garden ones, double-bag, half-fill with used gunge, stick it in the general rubbish bin. Depending how much gunge, don't put all of it in one bin-load in case it makes the bin too heavy and the operators refuse to empty it.
I once had a property with a septic tank, but also had land and used to have an area where I'd bury used gunge. I'm not sure if it eventually decomposed or not. A septic system uses a drain bed where hoses with tiny holes in them allow the liquid to be transferred to the soil. I would be worried about those tiny holes clogging up from anything slightly thick mixed in the water.

No problem at all. Natrosol gunge is biodegradable and dissolves into soapy water when you hose it down. In the 1990's I had a ranch in a rural area for 8 years and we did not have city water and the property had a well and a septic tank. We shot numerous gunge scenes on that property and never had a septic nor plumbing problems.
It is not gunge you have to worry about but the PIES can cause a problem if you use proper thick butter cream pies, as Lenny always ordered for the shoots we did together. Those butter cream pies are a big problem unless you shovel up the mess into plastic garbage bags and tip the garbage men $100 (as Lenny always did) to haul it away. Those pies killed all the grass in the areas we did pie shoots and the grass never grew again for several years in those spots. One year Lenny's shovel crew scooped up the pie mess onto plastic tarps and then they dragged it across the lawn and dumped it all in the pond at the front of my property. The next day I had over 100 dead fish floating on my pond.
Natrosol and whipped cream dissolve in water and cause no problems, but butter cream pies have to be scooped up into garbage bags and hauled away.
I agree - the gunge stuff isn't a problem in the septic system (as long as you aren't dumping a ton of it all at once. We have a small house and we throw away anything we can from pies and cake mix slime but then gunge we have no problem diluting it and dumping it down the drain staggered over a couple of days. We try to make it worthwhile by re-using the stuff 2 days in a row for different scenes before we pitch it so we aren't completely wasteful. We also religiously use rid-ex monthly in our septic system and we have had no issues. *knock on wood
