Why do Spanish language producers call scenes a "disaster"
Is desorden a really poor choice of word, which I'm guessing as mess doesn't translate that well? Is desastre (I'm presuming that's what's being translated) just the word you'd use to describe a messy scene? Is it a word that's a lot more flexible with positivity en Espanyol*?
I'm just wondering, as a dude with an interest in linguistics.
*also, I don't seem to be able to post an enye on the boards
Not a native speaker so take this with a grain of salt, but my understanding of "desorden" is mess in the sense of, like, a super messy house with stuff in complete disarray.
I think the most literal translation would be "disorder," which certainly fits with the kind of messy scenes I like the best.
If I had to translate this kind of mess, I'd probably go with something related to sucio/ensuciar which means dirty in the most basic usage, but can also mean muddy, filthy, and messy.
Curious to hear from native speakers on this, though.
