So I got some gunge as I have talked my mate into getting a bucket over his head. So I thought I would do a dummy run (rude not). Cut to the chase - I must not have mixed it as well as normal as there were a lot of lumps and in the clean up the water was taking a long time to go down the plug.
Anyway got any idea how I can sort this out... As its been an hour and my sink is still draining. Will those sink unblockers do it? knowing it is food thickener then I'm unsure how conventional sink unblockers will be.
Hope it is down to the fact that the lumps got down the plug hole as I really want to gunge my mate and I some what think he is secretly up for it as well.
Thanks in Advance.

In the short term, make sure it is cold water rather than gunge immediately above the plughole. If neccesary bail out and refill with cold water. Also check there is no hair in the plughole. Yes try 15min unblocker but you still need a lower level so it gets to the plughole.

Was it the cheaper Xanthan Gum Gunge or Hydroxy Ethyl cellulose (Natrosol), Xanthan is not so easy to mix and does really need an electric mixer or blender to get all the lumps out. If its Hydroxy then it should just dissolve with more water. Might be worth trying a plunger or some boiling water to see if that helps it dissolve if its Xanthan.
HEC - from Gunge Shop on eBay. Never had issues before which I way I keep using it as it has mixed really well and washed away with ease and easy clean up. I think I stopped stirring when I sprinkled the last of the pack in, so that last bit must have gone lumpy - as the rest of mixture has already started to thicken.
I've tried hard water and the drain is draining although slowly now. So hopefully like you say it must be dissolving.
Hope it is down to the lumps and not the gunge not draining - as it won;t be a good 1st experience for my mate.

The HEC Gunge mixes really easily, you just have to keep it mixed until it does start to thicken or you will get jelly like lumps at the bottom. If its our HEC gunge then it might be worth trying to empt the sink of the water that is in the sink into a bucket, using a jug or something, and then pouring boiling water from a kettle down the plug hole. That might just be enough to loosen it up.

yeah in the past it has been the easiest thing. i think i stopped mixing as all the other bags were fine and it was only the last bucket that had those lumps.
think it is cleared now. think it was a mix of lumps and thick gunge trying to get down a small drain pipe (As its a shower cubicle so imagine they have smaller plumbing)

Your pipes might well have been blocked already and the gunge was simply the final straw. A dose of this down the plug hole last thing at night, then rinse in the morning. Do this every few months to stop hair and fat building up. There are other products on the market but I use this one and it's a bit safer than chucking neat caustic soda crystals down.
