Here's a great early 1980s mud wrestling scene from the uncensored Showtime comedy series "Bizarre" which includes a male-female melee at the end--the show starred John Byner and was one of the first television forums for the death-defying feats of Super Dave Osborne. There's also a great pie scene from one of the show's earlier episodes which has circulated fairly widely (though I can't recall the name of the comedienne who gets pied), but for me, anyway, the mud wrestling bit is a new one.
Then there's the pie in the face blackout scene in the best video quality I've seen and in complete form, starting at 14:50 (fast forward a minute or so for the pie in the face payoff--this is a very nice one for a mainstream clip):
Given the nature of the show (lots of burlesque-style slapstick, topless women with bouncing boobs and midgets aplenty, including the legendary Billy Barty), I suspect that there are some more messy bits hidden here and there.
Well, how about that. Another '80s scene I never knew about! And readily available on DVD (I've just ordered this one). I hope they keep turning up....
The Sledgehammer clip brings back slightly painful memories. When I first watched it when it first aired, some time in 1986 to 1988, I watched it with my parents, in particular, my feminist mother. My mother was as open-minded as a parent could be, but I still felt damned uncomfortable as, the next day, I recall we went for a walk at a local wildlife refuge, and the ground was incredibly muddy, and my mother made some remark about how we should avoid falling into the mud to "avoid ending up like those women in that show last night".
