I need all of your tips and suggestions as to what cake mix do I buy to make the best most consistent cake batter and suggestions on how to go about making it. This is my first time that cake batter will be used in my messy session as I have always used noting but pies before. My mistress wants to use cake batter and I just want everyone's suggestions as to what to use and how to get the best results through the mixing process. Thanks guys for all your help!!!
I've never made buckets, but I can give you the tips Pie Princess and I use. First if you are looking to make buckets, I don't know where you live but if you have a GFS around they have BIG boxes of cake mix for cheap,instead of buying a bunch of little boxes. Second we mix ours mostly by hand, But you could use a mixer, we add HOT water and mix until we get the texture we're looking for. You can also add food coloring if you have a desired color. I say hot because by the time we are ready it should cool down to warm and gives a great sensation! Good Luck have fun, take pics!
The best thing about straight cake mix (and you don't add the eggs btw) is that you can vary the consistencies. Also, there is some oil or other ingredient built in so it does not stick in your hair like flour would. (Avoid plain flour/water mixtures.)
You can make it ahead of time if you put the mixture in plastic buckets, and sit them in warm to hot water in your bathtub. Test on your skin to make sure it isn't too hot, but I've never had a problem with the cake mix getting hot.
