Do frozen pre-made pies (after they're thawed) made by companies like Edwards or Marie Callender work better for a pie in the face or is it best to make the pies using a cheap crust and a couple of containers of Cool Whip?
Marie/Edwards pies require either 36 hrs in the fridge AND a few hours out to be totally soft. Option 2: In fridge overnight, then sitting in a warm car for 3 hrs does it.
Cool whip is just easy. Get some 2.5 gallon ziplock bags, shove 5 or 6 still frozen pucks of cool whip in there, and just let it thaw. It's not going to melt, so you're good. If you want to dye it you can Put some drops of food coloring in there smoosh the bag around. Snip the corner and you have an icing bag full of cool whip you can pipe into your tins.
You can fill an empty tin, but if you want to be fancy, get pre-made shells. Bake them, let them cool, then put some pudding, cake batter, or frosting in the shells, then top with cool whip.
Pudding leaves a slightly sweet smell post clean up so does whipped topping , if you use a fragrant shampoo and body wash no one will know. I have used frozen pre-made pies from chef Pierre there not bad but you can't beat home made especially for the price. If your going to buy some pre-made Avoid anything with meringue in it, made that mistake its not very messy and is a bitch to clean up. Its like marshmallow but does not spread well. Both pudding and cake batter are water soluble so clean up should be easy, I have also used whipped icing which is super messy and colorful but requires a little extra time in the shower to clean off. pics are of some of the pies I have made and used on myself some are cake batter and some are whipped topping.
I have found that a container of cool whip and some paper plates is the best and cheapest way to make pies. There is no crust so clean up is really easy. My local Walmart has chocolate cream pies for $5 and they are not refrigerated so they are ready to in your face when you get home.
Everyone is correct, just depends what you're in the mood for. Saturday we experimented with all kinds of fruit fillings which was fun but if you want a messy sticky tasty pie you my try my latest creation. A pie tin about half filled with pudding, topped with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. It was sticky, heavy and delicious.
