I'm not sure I agree that it surpasses the one from two weeks ago, but it definitely had it's moments.
For me, what this comes down to is basically a couple things: A decent target being made to look ridiculous.
So, while we do get into debates about the quality of the pies, the girls wearing goggles or having their hair up, the camera person's aptitude and things of that nature, really all of those factors service either the target's attractiveness or the humility factor. This is why, at least for me, I get little or nothing from some producers who don't focus on that and overly sexualize their content. Just not my bag.
Here I think things worked pretty well. Great looking girls for the most part and a couple standouts.
I've really warmed up to Neka, she takes it very well and the guys don't hold back (really the girls don't either). I think she gets it - it's supposed to be funny, from a non-WAM perspective. Look at her reaction after her second very viscous pieing, just perfect way to do it. Acting surprised (despite having at least two dozen pies in the face in the past) and she even walks right to the center of the stage to "protest" the violence of it - yet does nothing to actually cover herself or wipe it away, it's like she wants to show it off afterwards. She's like a reverse-Barbara.
Overall, very strong. The pies might have been better but I'm holding out they do the pie-to-the-face-to-buzz-in scenario with these pies. One pie left some of the victims unrecognizable, I can't imagine what 3-6 strong hits with them might elicit.
A big negative to this was the White Knight pieing Joseline. Tsk, tsk. The second round was pretty annoying, with him *again* giving her a very light pie, with her repaying his kindness by smashing him as hard as she could. So common, so frustrating.
This is an enjoyable segment. (I've watched the first half.)
The girls are playful, the pies acceptable, the camera shot is decent and I don't want to flatten the men with a steamroller.
Playing rock, paper, scissors pretty much ensures that the outcome will be close to 50/50 unlike CM where the women regularly slaughter the men and the reverse never happens.
I would suggest they turn off the giant jumbo-tron behind the contestants. Those 3-D boxes on the screen are distracting and dizzying.
--Wiping off immediately is actually the "reverse Barbara." As much grief as we give her, the reason I used to put up with it all was her complete disinterest in clearing her face after she got hit. (Yeah, Neka is playing it for laughs, and Barb is doing the victim routine, but they both are great for non-wiping fans.)
--White Knight Guy is newer, and terrible, and would be the Curly of this show if I cared that much. But yes, he tends to be the guy who gets slimed more than any other.... Gets pied and stumbles into the girl's space in that game... etc etc. For him to be the only guy terrible at pieing girls in this game is par for course.
--Every single EEG, regardless of country, is required by law to have some kind of distracting Jumbotron or terrible lighting behind the contestants, to ensure that all the footage looks as pixelated and choppy as possible (even in HD). Don't ask me why, it's law.
In terms of wiping, she's the reverse-Dani, who has ruined many a would-be-otherwise amazing pieing with her dreadful wiping technique.
I likened her to Barbara for the parallel in lack of wiping, yet utterly different reasoning behind it (Barbara doesn't wipe but seems to be legitimately enraged and upset; Neka plays it for laughs... at least for now until she gets a big head and is "too good" for pies in the face)
