Over the last summer, I've hurt my feet several times trying to find good boots or shoes for mud adventures. Typically I'm walking quite a bit to find mud, then walking back in the wet/muddy shoes. Old tennis shoes, rubber boots, hiking sandals, and cheap hiking boots all gave me blisters in different ways (and the last round also got infected, cutting my mud season short), so I want to get something better.
What footwear have you found that: - doesn't give you blisters when dry, wet, or muddy - stays on in deep heavy mud - handles long walks in uneven terrain?
Online, I've found suggestions for jungle boots and Chuck Taylor-style tennis shoes, but I thought I would ask here to find what people have found.
My go-to for any rough terrain are a pair of British army issue "cold wet weather boots" made by Haix. If you can find previously issued, lightly used ones they can be surprisingly cheap. They're goretex lined and even after the accidental sinking incident in the picture my socks were dry.
