What are the most artful wet and messy depictions you've seen? I would love to see. Are they photographs? Drawings, paintings or sculpture? Please let me know!
As far as sites go, I've always found the work at Messy Online to have a sort of interesting elegance to it! I wish I knew more people doing really complex visual art having to do with WAM. About the only people I can think of are Ivan Alifan, Lee Price and Alyssa Monks (with the latter two not specifically evoking the fetish).
Lots of WAM is stylish and can be visually sophisticated but as it's a sexual fetish its appeal is pretty...base for most people on a board like this. To assign it an artistic status might be risking being somewhat pretentious. I'm art educated and make paintings, videos, and photographs but I relate the results more closely to 'popular' art forms and entertainment than art, like burlesque. It's difficult to see past the personal, sexual obsession with it, the titilation. Any attempted critique could and would be quickly torn down.
An interesting guy on this forum to get talking about this is wamajama (producer of Splat! TV and Eye Candy).
Sure, I don't mean to be lofty about it. Even pop art would be great to see, just artists who employ the visuals of the fetish intentionally or not are who I was interested in.
That being said, I totally understand what you are saying!
Some of the recent Moomin videos are shot in what looks like an abandoned factory. That in itself can be a photogenic location, but when you add Georgina or Charlotte, a gunge bath, vivid red and blue gunge, and a Jackson Pollock approach to coverage, you have something that would not need much more choreography and direction to put in for the Turner Prize.
