Does anyone know where I could find Messy Fun Video's "Ariel's Pie Shop"? I'm familiar with it from a clip that used to be on YouTube ages ago and some snippets from the "At the Messy Movies" video where Carolyn and Daizy review it.

The only clips of this I am aware of are the ones which were posted to the MessyFun members' site in the spring of 2004. I still have these and they're backed up in two places because I haven't seen them anywhere in seventeen years. Considering that they were converted from VHS tapes they're surprisingly good quality. They were encoded in RealPlayer format, which dates them pretty nicely. Obviously they can't be shared because somebody out there still owns all the rights to MessyFun including the copyrights...at one point I think it was Britney?
Here is what I don't get. The reason we don't file share is that it prevents the producer from making money. But what about when the producer no longer is in business? Who does it hurt?

That's a good question But here is what I've come to understand (They get to decided at their discretion)
Might be on wamtec? I know a few people bought out some old producers when they wanted to exist (like Dudeman) but others wanted to disappear as much as they could (PieJinx).

Have to agree with this. I really do think the WAM community should be more accepting of file sharing for videos made by producers that no longer exist. Would help people like me get a chance to see more classic WAM videos.
Does anyone care to share their opinions as to why file sharing for videos by producers who no longer exist is a bad thing?

Whatever happened to Piejinks? I only ever saw a couple videos but their pies were fantastic.
I bought mine years ago directly from Messy Fun. Ariel's Pie Shop was on video MFV-10. I don't know if there is anywhere that still has it for sale but some of the old Messy Fun stuff is still available on the download store. I'll attach the two links below to the download stores still linked to on the Messy Fun site (www.messyfun.com)

It hurts all current producers, because no-one can compete with free. Why would anyone pay for newly shot material if they had free access to an enormous archive of back catalogues from former producers? Unrestricted file sharing would completely destroy the current WAM business model and all the professional producers would walk away, as would their models. A few enthusiastic amateurs might continue producing for their own pleasure, but updates would be few and far between and they'd get innundated with demands from scene-starved fans which would eventually drive most of them to quit.
So basically the answer to "who would it hurt" is all of us, as we'd lose all our sources of regular new content.
Plus all the reasons Babaslimes mentioned - it's illegal, former models may no longer want their work in circulation, etc.

Sure. I can think of three reasons.
1) It's in violation of copyright law, so no matter what way you spin this, it's illegal. Something that I'm sure MM doesn't want anything to do with. Just because something is not sold anymore doesn't void that.
2) Produces could take down content for a ton of personal reason. Maybe the model had a change of heart, or maybe the producer doesn't want to be associated with it anymore. Whatever that reason is, we should respect that as they are the ones who made the content, and they still own the copyright.
3) MessyFun or any other producer that takes down their videos should be in control, when, or if, they come back. For example, I took down all of Keke's content for almost a year & never had to tell anyone why, but I did plan to come back. It could have been 10 years later as far as anyone know. If websites allowed my content to be freely shared because I was gone and no one knew if I was coming back, why would I ever come back if everyone is pirating my videos while I'm away? Why would other producers make videos if they know if they suddenly stopped those files could be freely shared without their consent? It's a snowball effect.
In summary, I'd never, and many many produces who make videos here would immediately stop if there was some kind of rule that let you post copyright content because it's old.
