There's a scene from Rowan & Martin's "Laugh-in" that I'd love to see again!
It might be from one of the "Specials" that were done after "Laugh-in" ended.
It's a blackout that has Dan Rowan and Ann Elder getting hit with one pie each. As I remember it, Dan has on his "Military General" uniform, but I may not be remembering it correctly. Ann is dressed nicely. I don't remember the setup, but the two of them are standing there arm-in-arm. They both get a pie in the face at or about the same time. The pie plate sticks to Ann's face for a while. Dan looks over and sees it and cracks up.
Ann was very beautiful, and normally did not get much mess, iirc. I've always loved seeing the pie plate or crust stuck to a woman's face.
Laugh In was always great for Judy Carne, and occasional other girls, getting drenched with water! But I don't remember a pie scene.Have to check that out.
Yes. The stills are unrelated. Just some ladies getting pied with the crust or plate still on their face.
I watched Laugh-in every week, hoping Judy or someone would get pied. (I also enjoyed the whole show). But it was always water. In her autobiography, Judy said something about getting pied, but I think it was more a reference to slapstick indignities.
The scene I'm thinking about was either at the tail end of it's run, or one of the "specials" that they ran after the show ended it's regular run.
I've checked Youtube and didn't see it, but maybe it was listed some other way.
The Goldie Hawn pie-in-the-face I remember was something about a door being opened with her behind it holding a pie... and you could hear her say "Oh!" as it went all over her. She was wearing a bikini. A little skinny in those days, tho.
I almost always agree with Rich but not this time. I have the scene on an old Hurley DVD somewhere. It;s a caking, not a pie, and I think it was pretty damn good. Here's a description: Goldie was wearing a sexy waitress dress. She is headed toward a set of double doors when Dick Martin, dressed as a waiter, comes out holding a huge cake. they stop and start chatting. Then Dan Rowan comes in the other door, bumps into Martin, who slams the cake into Goldie's face. The mess covers her quite well and also trashes her dress. She reacts in horror and Rowan shrugs his shoulders and keeps walking. The camerawork leaves a bit to be desired but with the slow-mo and freeze frame feature this scene really gets the job done. I would rate it a solid 8 for a mainstream pie or cake scene. And yes, Rich, she was crazy hot in those days...totally agree there.

Wow! I don't know how I missed that back at the time, but thanks for the info, Fred! That sounds like a great scene!

Agree about the camera work. IIRC, there was no close up.
no it was definitely laugh-in...as I said, I have the scene on an old Hurley DVD...if there was any doubt that was erased because the "blackout" skit immediately before it featured joanne worley...it was most definitely Laugh-in...but I also do not remember the scene at the time...and I certainly would ahve if I had seen it
