I take it that you're an Ann Margret fan.
Oh, wait! You're THE AnnMargretFan!
Just teasing .... I'm quite a fan, too! Especially of her scene in "Tommy"! I had seen some preview info & a couple of GREAT pics in Time magazine when the movie was first coming out. I knew that I HAD to see it! Seeing the messy scene on the big screen in a theatre was amazing! :lovestruck:
I remember that a lot of people (especially the women/girls) all went "ugh" when she put the baked beans over her head and into her hair!
I am a huge Ann Margret fan and the Tommy scene is what did it. I had the chance to see the film a few years back on the big screen too. Amazing. I met her a couple years ago breifly and mentioned this scene. She got a big smile on her face and said it was crazy. Her husband hurried her up after that. Maybe he's still not happy about it.

Or maybe he thought you were one of those "food mess weirdo's" that have made that scene famous!
I wonder how many other people have mentioned to her that that is their favorite scene, out of all the varied work she has done!
Not to mention of course that in the film "Tommy" she also did a lovely wet scene in the sea, fully dressed. Ken Russell often included wam style shots in his films, but the "Beans" scene is the one people remember. Can you image, suppose having got to the end of the scene only to discover that there was a camera misfunction. "Sorry love, Can we do that again?"

It took 3 days to film that scene too. They would shoot it and get her cleaned up and do it all over again several times. Now that is a true actress
Did you know that at one point during filming, she got too close to the broken glass from the TV and cut her hand? They had to take her to the Emergency Room to get it stitched up. Also, the really hot outfit that she was wearing shrunk during filming and so in the last parts of the scene, you can see the side of her boobs.
I, too, think it's interesting how she smiled so broadly when you brought it up!
I heard about her having to go to the hospital getting weird looks because she looked like a drowned rat. I notice that with her dress shrinking too. I wonder if her breasts slipped out during filming.
