For years Yahoo Messenger has been my WAM-chat platform of choice. But they've totally overhauled it and it's a completely different thing now - no more buddy list showing who's online, it's essentially just another SMS program where you text your contacts from your phone book and maybe they're online and maybe not.

I tend to be about three generations behind whatever the current software/platform is - is there any general consensus of where people are going now that Yahoo isn't all that useful anymore? Kik? Skype? AOL? Something else? The UMD site here has been filling the void but I don't really love the chat interface.

Personally I will use either here, though not preferable because it isn't the best (sorry but it really isn't), skype chat (although there's this sort of stigma around not having a cam.........), or Facebook......... I know Facebook might cross boundaries which is why I've seen some with specific wam facebook profiles that don't have actual pics of you on it.... or maybe the commonly used blurred facepic.... or you might be so pied that no one could recognize you short of a forensic scientist.... but I haven't used yahoo or AIM in centuries lololol..... and email has become the new snail mail.... sooooooo that's where I personally think its at.... some have used snapchat and your can really use any chat app I think...

yahoo is indeed a mess now. personally i have a separate skype account for wam and other things i don't want other people knowing about.

I pretty much exclusively use Telegram now. Tons of chat rooms with lots of porn as well.

I've been using something called Paltalk - it's very similar to the old Yahoo - you have a buddy list, there's various chatrooms you can go in or even start your own personal one - it does go down every once in awhile unexpectedly but it usually comes back up right away - I'm michiganpie on there too if you decide to try it and want to chat messy stuff

I'm very disappointed with the new yahoo chat too. I used the old one all the time. This new version sucks. Why they came up with such a crappy new version is beyond me.

Discord is an alternative, yet it's for gaming mostly, skype is the only alternative for me, FB pretty much isnt ideal for pornography at all, and yet sadly...Skype got fucked up by microsoft... :/

I've heard a lot of people use Telegram, but I don't know much about it. I just use a WAM-only Skype name with an alias. Just watch out if you already have Microsoft accounts or it can inadvertently link to your real name.
