A pie fan recently asked me if I knew anything about the pie fight scenes in the 1939 UK comediy film Cheer Boys Cheer. This was a new one for me, and I had never heard of it and it was not on Hurley's list either. I cannot find any pics or footage online that show the pie fight scenes. All we have to go on is this mention of the pie fights on the IMDB synopsis, which says ...
"Set in the world of brewing, a classic tale (an Ealing speciality) of the small, friendly, family run company being threatened with closure by the nasty, modern, large organisation. Bringing in familiar farce elements such as mistaken identity, slapstick and even pie fights, the tale is resolved through the love felt by the children of the opposing brewery owners."
The film has recently been restored and released in the UK by NetworkDVD in their Rare British Classics vol 9 series.
The person who tipped me to this plans to order the DVD, but before he places the order I thought I would check with the pie fight experts here to see what they know about this film.
