It's quite the opposite of product vs product / producer vs producer in my experience. Yes I rely on sales of my content to keep doing what I do but I don't really see other producers as competing businesses. I count myself very lucky to be good friends with Candy Custard and Henry Wilcox. Rev Slymsford and myself often compare notes on models. I've been lucky enough to have other prodcuers like Penny Banks come and model for me. Recently had a good long chat with Leonmoomin as we swapped ideas and stories. I'm in regular contact with Messmaster (although he probably wishes I wasn't as I'm often telling him something needs fixing). We all look out for each others content. I feel we all fill a particular niche within the fetish. It makes it far more enjoyable and easier to be friends and co-operate then to be cutthroat and try to compete.
