This is at Xenses, which is one of a series of adventure-themed parks/attractions in Quintana Roo in Southeastern Mexico run by an outfit called Xcaret. This particular park is built around optical illusions and unusual sensory experiences. I found it in some Web searching a while back - haven't been myself. Reports are that the mud is kind of cold but yes it looks pretty crazy.
If it weren't for the relatively remote international location it looks like it would be a fun visit. Apparently if you take a cruise ship that goes to Cancun it's possible to do a day-excursion down there (it's about an hour or two away from Cancun). There are some 4- and 5-star resorts to stay near there but they are $1000+ a night.
Oh wow, this is one of those new 5 star hotels for the rich, too bad there's not something more affordable for us commoners. Guess I'd better start saving my pennies, saving my dimes!...
There are three Hotel Xcaret properties and I don't see a photo of this on any of their websites. Any idea which one of these has the mud river?...
Like Mz1 mentioned, it's a theme park not too far off Cancun.
The activity is called Sludgerie. Theres a few more actitivy you can go for 1/2 Day for around 75USD. Most hotels in that area will have shuttle to that park.. Would love to go on my next trip.
I remember coming across an article in TripAdvisor about this last year but had forgotten the name of the place. People complaining the mud was hard to get out of their expensive designer bikinis, didn't seem to have occurred to anyone to just do it in jeans and t-shirt or running pants and crop-top, which are designed to get dirty and would take heavier washing. And look much better in the mud.

Aww, geez! Didn't they ever hear of a thrift store?
The day I win the lottery, I'd like to check that place out. But you can bet that even though I'll be filthy rich, since there's no other way I could possibly ever visit the place, I will STILL be wearing the clothing of my choice and it won't be expensive designer stuff either.
I want to go down that slide in a white thrift-store sundress with a full skirt and 1-piece swimsuit underneath.
And if it comes out the color of the clay, that's how you make a memory of your outing.
Thanks for the info! Yes, it does appear that they've created this in a cave...
Cool that it might be possible to access this more affordably from Cancun, however, I'm wondering if Sludgerie is the same place, check out the photo of it in the link, the mud is watery whereas the one in the instagram link is not. Also, the edges of the pool look a little different than in some other photos of the place that can be found on Google Image searching on the original photo...
