This is probably my first memory of getting wet. There used to be a programme on TV called We are the champions. It was a sports competition between schools and the final round was always in a swimming pool. The teams were represented by different colours, and in the pool round they wore t-shirts each team in different colours. For some reason I thought this was amazing and really wanted to go swimming with my t-shirt on. I have no idea why, but i do remember not being allowed to.

So one day I snuck upstairs and got in the shower with my clothes on, I remember my mum coming up looking for me and I hid behind the shower curtain. Not sure what she made of it, but from that day on I was hooked and spent the next decade trying to hide my wet clothes antics from my parents (mostly successfully!)
