Shorts wet or dry?

Hello fellow wetlookers,
I'm exploring a theme that has been in the back of my mind for quite a while now. It comes to the fore during the Summer, Spring & Autumn months when short pants are quite often worn as part of a uniform at workplaces, schools etc. What about summer smart casual dress codes, eg; dress shorts etc. These types of short pants are really not designed to be used for bathing. They are usually very neat looking, quite often pleated like office trousers but still they are shorts. They are mostly but not always longer than bathing shorts. Some times they can be tradesman like & made of a dark blue or a desert sand coloured thick drill material. These are usually knee length or longer heavy cargo shorts with many pockets. Sometimes they can be very short drill shorts too. These types are definitely not designed for bathing & once wet will take a very long time to dry. I know because I've swum wearing these long heavyweight shorts with a long sleeved heavyweight collared button up style drill work shirt. Sooo good... Try it some day.

The other kind of shorts I'm thinking about are long pleated Chino style shorts to be worn as a summertime smart casual option with a button up or polo dress shirt. These are also not designed for bathing although like the full length long Chino trousers they really are fun to bathe in. When the light bone coloured versions of these pants get wet ones underpants briefs become clearly visible through the partially transparent fabric. I find this to be quite a turn on knowing one's underpants are clearly visible for all to see. Whilst on the subject of underpants briefs if you are wearing these underneath non bathing shorts as do you feel that the shorts become even further removed from being used as bathing attire?

What about if the one is wearing socks & leather dress shoes, boots or leather dress sandals. Do they now have a similar status to neat long trousers definitely not to be worn in the water? Does the wearing of a button up collared dress shirt either long or short sleeved distance them either further from being worn as bathing shorts? What about when worn with a polo shirt golf style. A woollen sweater perhaps? Would you still consider entering the water dressed in this fashion?

What about a summer school uniform consisting of just below the knee length grey serge or polyester pleated school shorts with long grey just under knee length grey school socks & black leather school dress shoes? Of course I'm thinking this outfit would be worn with a short sleeved white business style collared school dress shirt with a white singlet vest visible underneath it. It would be worn with the old school tie & naturally a regulation school hat or cap. Possible with a school vee necked sweater with or without sleeves? Maybe even a woollen school blazer? Is this inappropriate bathing attire?

Would you get into trouble from your teachers or parents if you just plunged into a swimming pool wearing this uniform complete with black leather school shoes & socks? It'd be fun to do though wouldn't it? & quite a turn on too. I once watched a fellow school pupil get thrown off a pier into the sea wearing the summer school uniform complete with shoes & long socks. I was wearing the long sleeved long trousers version of the school uniform & nearly got thrown in after him. The only reason I resisted was because my parents would have killed me if they found out otherwise I would have loved to have gone bathing wearing my full school uniform.

Funny enough that boy didnt want to get wet & was very angry despite it being a stinking hot day but I did & I couldn't so that fact still turned me on enormously. One cold rainy winter day I did take the plunge in my full winter school uniform complete with blazer but that's another story. Here's another take. Would you swim wearing brand new very dark blue thick knee length jeans shorts & a long sleeved button up Oxford button down collar dress shirt? Would you roll up the sleeves before entering the water or wear the sleeves long? Would you be wearing leather dress boots or shoes with socks.

What about really heavy duty knee length fleece sweat pant shorts. I have some of those with and without cargo pockets. They are all very heavy duty thick winter material. Ive gone bathing wearing them with a turtleneck skivvy & a flannelette shirt over the top sometimes with a heavyweight fleecy hoody or sweat shirt or both.

There are also quick drying long shorts with mesh pockets that are actually designed to be used as bathing shorts but also work shorts for those who want to have a swim during their work lunch break without having to change clothes. I've also tried these with a quick dry long sleeved collared polo shirt. I have three different length versions of these shorts, short & brief, mid length which can be anything mid thigh to just above the knee cap & long which is anything from just below the knee cap to three quarter length pants. I also have these different varieties in non bathing shorts. My various shorts differ from tight fitting to very baggy with a wide range of thicknesses.

Let's now look at the other much less formal shorty short options such as very short shiny polyester or nylon football shorts worn with underpants briefs & just a singlet vest, perhaps a sleeved or unsleeved tee or polo shirt. The briefness of that could be interesting to explore as well. You could take that option further & wear a long sleeved flannelette shirt with it too. Maybe even wear a long sleeved crew neck sweater with the flannelette shirt collar showing like two little triangles. Its up to you whether you roll up the sleeves or not. This outfit is great for when the weather starts to cool.
What I'm getting at with this blog is that I'm finding it quite a turn on thinking about the border between bathing shorts or shorts that are supposed to stay dry. Any thoughts people?
Cheers, Winter Woolly Wetboy.
