Pumas in deep trouble

One night this summer I was out with some friends, just having a great time and enjoying the warm weather. It had rained quite a lot the days before and we were now finally getting sunshine again.
We were out in the country having a bonfire at a friends house.
I was wearing a black t-shirt, jeans shorts and my beloved puma sneakers with pretty much brandnew white socks. I didn't intend to get wet or messy that night, but it'd turn out I would have to reconsider...

As the party came to an end later that night we all said goodbye and I headed home in my car. It just came into my mind that a few miles away there was an open field that got muddy pretty quickly after a good rain. And we had plenty of rain the past days... So at the intersection instead of turning right I went left and got to my new destination a little later.
I parked the car, turned on the flashlight of my phone and ahead of me was a lovely muddy field!
I said goodbye to my white socks that moment, knowing they would never be worn again, and stepped into the mud.
It was really soft, not very deep in this corner and felt just amazing!

My feet sank in instantly and I tried walking around a bit, which was not really easy. My shoes kept sinking in at every step, making it almost impossible to walk. At some point, my shoe was stuck pretty good and by trying to pull it out, my foot slipped out, leaving one of my sneakers in the mud, not even visible anymore. The sock still had some white areas, which I needed to change without delay. Plus I didn't want to lose my shoe (just yet) and started searching with my foot. It took some effort, but after finding it and pulling with both hands I was lucky to get it out again. Good thing they are brown, but they were still beyond recognition, which is always a fun sight for me.

I played around with my feet a little more, went back and drove off. Back at home, I went to the hose in our garden and rinsed the shoes and my feet. The socks were obviously ruined and even after rinsing off, had a nice grey-brownish colour on them.
Too bad!
