WAM Production tips.

I don't know anything about art, but I know what I like, so here are my tips for what *I think* can make a good session a great one. Now I'm not demanding perfect holly-wool level work from our side line fetish but we should try to not make the same basic errors that break the forth wall over and over again. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results - Albert Einstein

0a) I hate teasers, I really do (I'm very bias here so ignore this one if you like, hay, well who am I to tell you how to shoot your sessions anyway, feel free to stop reading), anyway, I don't think they work the way the producers may wish they do. However, if you really think you need teasers to capture your audience's interest and loyalty - well fine go ahead and make them but please, O PLEASE for the love of god, please, don't make it a spoiler..... really, would go and pay to see a movie - even after the advert playing at the entrance to the Cinerama showed you how it ended?

0b) Please don't chop your lovely movie into the 5 or more little parts or edit it in such a way as to skip key moments. If there is a technical reason then fine, but offer a full clip too - these one thing I hate more than teasers and that's missing sections of a session....what would you think if you where reading a misery novel, only to find a page in the middle or worse yet at the end was missing.

1a) This is WAM! The "M" stands for messy, there will be mess, and it will go where you didn't expect it to and or will spread beyond your imaginary boundary - this is normal, and should not be a surprise - if it is, then your in the wrong fetish.....Work with the mess, let it happen. I've seen so many otherwise excellent videos fall short of their potential - only because the models and or others are worried about the mess or their outfits being destroyed....really, what did you expect to happen to your nice white blouse when you tipped a curry over it and what did you think would happen to the cake you just sat on.

1b) Mess can be unpredictable, so have a backup plan, anything can happen (and or fail to happen) after the first can of whipped cream, so keep going on if possible...the show must go on, you may not get that blouse clean again so make the most of it!

1c) Note that this is how I do things, and I'm on the more exstream end of the spectrum - Don't use anything that you would't mind being destroyed or a little damaged.....I'm not saying total destruction is the only possible outcome of a WAM session, well is it is for me more often than not, but the basic rule of thumb is this. Either your clean or your not, so please don't dress up in the cheap blouse and expensive shoes / other accessories trying to mess one up AND not the others.....that's not how the laws of physics work - and this really shows in the screen.

2) While you are there, take a few moments to set up the story, you don't need a blockbuster plot or totally scripted move - but as you can't undo the mess, spend a little time showing off the model and the outfits first.

3) Zoom is NOT your friend, if you are worried about, and thinking about, your equipment, you will miss many, many of the best shoots, don't be scared to get in there with the models, if you are really worried about the expensive DSLR, then you need to re-consider your choose of equipment, try something like this: http://umd.net/blogs/love_my_new_wam_cam_aka_contou

5) Everyone likes stills and these are impotent, but please don't record a session with a video camera AND have someone else here taking stills with a flash. This totally beaks the 4th wall. I know , I know, you think you need good high resolution stills for your adds, but the light and sound of the camera is very annoying...and there are better ways to do this anyway, such as shoot with 2 video cameras and set one to continual photo mode. IF there is no way around it then find a way to include the camera as part of the session, not always possible I get it, but at least the camera is part of the story and the flash and sound are not unexpected.
