Polar Plunge for Special OlympicsUser deleted

Having only read stories in the newspaper about and seeing pictures in papers or on TV, in 2009 I thought I'd get a first-hand glimpse of one in person. Later in '09 at the Wisconsin American Legion state convention in Milwaukee, I was given brochures about various Legion Programs. Special Olympics was supported through Children & Youth. BRIGHT IDEA: Instead of just writing a check, I (your Rock County Cdr.) challenged the 8 posts in my jurisdiction to contribute a minimum $75 (cost of registration) to Spec. Oly.) and I will represent and participate in 2010. BRIGHT IDEA 2: Challenge my auxiliary counterpart - the County Aux. President to challenge her ladies and join me - making this a Legion Family Fundraiser. In Whitewater WI - one of 12 in the state -the Plunge is into a Swimming Pool set up in a downtown park. I wasn't gonna freeze just waiting in line, so I went fully dressed in shoes, jeans and shirt. My friend wore shoes and sweats. I bought matching Legion & Aux. sweatshirts to wear. Honestly, the water wasn't that bad. Weather was 30 and no wind chill. Would I do it again? OH HELL NO!!!
