Highlights for me!
- First time in a dunk tank!
- First time in a gunge bath!
- Hearing Penny Banks call Ari a naughty word that rhymes with Hunt when she threw mud at Penny!
- First time in a Foam Party!
- Going back to the hotel and blowing my nose and mud coming out!
- Having an awesome day!
Having organised training courses, I acknowledge how difficult it is to organise events, and so to quote Hannibal Smith (A-team) 'I love it when a plan comes together' and in the case if this event it so came together! Thanks to Lisa Moomin and Leon Moomin and the awesome support crew.
I booked on the event not knowing what to expect but had excellent correspondence with Lisa to the extent of confirming what I could wear.
There was an opportunity to meet for drinks and a meal the night before and I was able to meet old and new friends. It was a good night. I also managed to find the local lap dancing club which has a whole other story behind it!
After a fairly late night, I arrived at the venue as instructed at 1130 and was greeted by a very pleasant and courteous member of the security staff who checked me in, and then I was greeted by Lisa who directed me as to where I could get changed and explained how the check-in bag system worked. After getting changed into my PVC cat suit, I entered the main area and was amazed to see the mud pit and gunge tank as these were the first time I had seen them in real life. Many a video watched with them in through! Also present was the gunge tank.
Please note, I had a really enjoyable day but my I am not clear on the full order of events so If I have got them in the wrong order, please excuse me as I am doing it as they come from my memory. The first part of the day was the formal welcome from the Moomin's and a safety brief.
I think the first game was the dunk tank game where the models had to guess answer questions correctly not to be dunked. The crowd was allowed to help or hinder as required. However, I think the questions had the crowd stumped just as much as the models, so there was a fair bit of dunking going on. Which was brilliant to watch, I can't remember the names of the models involved, but their enthusiasm for the game made it a fun thing to watch.
Returning to the main stage there was mud wrestling with Ari and MissKayOrules refereed by Penny Banks. The rounds played out at one a piece and the deciding round went to Ari. From my point of view it was great to see two people obviously enjoying what they do and in great fitness (as I found out later on). It was the moves by the wrestlers were a joy to watch especially when they went down and mud splatted over the audience! Penny being the referee had to issue yellow cards a couple of times as I don't think they took her 'authority' seriously, this was proved at the end when (un)surprisingly she got dragged into the pool as well! Sorry Penny, but I'm still laughing and smiling at that.
Other games that followed were a card based higher or lower where if you guessed wrong the model got a pie in the face and other areas. I particularly liked this due to the chance element, some may say it was rigged, but I'm going down the believable route.
Another game that I am still laughing and smiling about was the Human Buzzer! Four models, loads of cups of water and true or false questions. Two models who were sat down who would act as the buzzer but to be activated the two models that were standing had to bend down and get a cup of water and poor it over the seated model to get them to Buzz or should that be shriek with the cold water. I was laughing at the expressions and the sounds from the models so much I got jaw ache! To the two models that were sat down, you were super troopers for it, as I did notice you appeared to be getting cold but it was brilliant you carried on and thanks for the entertainment.
The formal element of the show was well produced and in my opinion ran very well, if there were any major production hiccups I think they were well hidden. Lisa did an excellent job as compare.
The second half of the show was the come and try section which was an absolute blast for me as I got to try new thinks that left me buzzing!
The first thing I wanted to try was the Dunk Tank as I had watched many a video of dunk tanks and all ways thought it looked fun. However, on the way to the dunk tank was a pink gunge bath, so that was sampled first. I sat on the end of the bath facing out and slowly lowered myself back first into the gunge, the sensation of it enveloping me was as if someone was putting a warm gooey blanket around me. After getting used to it, I went for another first and completely submerged myself which even though I have been covered in gunge before, I haven't had my head completely under. Again it felt marvellous; until I remembered I needed to breathe and had to come up for air! The sensation of coming up out of the think gunge is not something I will forget. In fact I went back in the bath a further two times! The Dunk Tank was next and the first operator who dunked me was Candy Custard, needless to say I will get my revenge one day, muhaaaa! Saying that I have no malice towards her as it was something I wanted to do. Sitting on the edge of the board was a strange mix of excitement, nerves and anticipation. When Candy hit the red button to activate the board it was a surreal moment, I am sure it was a fairly quick action and it did feel quick, but also it also felt like a slow motion action, the sort of thing you see in cartons where the character goes of the edge of a cliff and stays in the air until they realised they have run out of road. Going into the water it was a mix of wow I hit the water and a split second of hang on I am going to drown, until I came back up, getting my breath back and feeling exhilarated. I did come back for three more goes on it, so I think I enjoyed it. (Henry Wilcox, also operated the button, so me thinks more plotting revenge is needed!)
The next new thing was to be the mud wrestling, at the London Splosh Games I had tried gunged wrestling but I had always wanted to try mud wrestling and I now had the chance with the gorgeous and very strong Ari. On entering the mud it engulfed me around my feet and was a very relaxing sensation but was also cold on contact. The bout started off with Ari and I tackling each other on our knees, now I knew Ari was the professional in this game but I figured I would be up for longer than I was! Pretty soon I was face down in the mud, breathing and eating it. Ari got me in many a different choke/scissor hold and in some I was just uncontrollably laughing as it was a brilliant and bizarre situation to be in. In addition, despite being in choke holds at no time did I feel unsafe, I had to tap myself out on several occasions though, but I remember where I was on my back in and covered in mud with Aris legs wrapped around my neck and just feeling so relaxed. That can't be right can it? I enjoyed it all so much I went back for two further rounds and on the last round I mentioned to Ari that Penny Banks was looking slightly too clean, Ari of course agreed with me and then flung mud at Penny and the shot landed perfectly on her boobs! Penny's face was an absolute picture and will be forever engrained in my mind particularly when she called Ari a swear word that rhymes with 'hunt' and can be guessed from 'C U Next Tuesday.' As far as I could tell there was no malice behind the statement but it was more of a 'how dare you!' statement So Penny, I am sorry for making the observation that you were too clean to Ari, but the results more than make up for it! And Ari Good Shot!
The next stage was the pieing stage and when I got there was a clean model Rae (I think, someone let me know if I have the name wrong) who gave me a choice of being pied or pieing her. Now guess which way I went folks! Yes, that's right I pied Rae! However, she did get her own back and pied me. Needless to say I came back for a few more pieings with Rae.
Rae was really approachable and pleasant to talk to, so when it came for my chance to go in the gunge tank, I was asked if I would like to be solo or accompanied. So I had to ask Rae if she would join me. We therefore had a joint gunging. It is the second time in my life that I have been in a gunge tank and I love anticipation of waiting for it to occur and the sensation of gunge pouring over me. So thank you for joining me Rae you made it even more enjoyable.
I also need to put a special note for the lads (gunge tank monkeys!) who were cleaning and refilling the tank after each gunging. I watched how hard you were working and the patience you had with everyone, even when you were getting towards the end of the day and I could tell you were getting a little frazzled. So a big Thank You.
At the end of the day, there was a free-for-all from the stage with all the days participants throwing gunge from the stage all over the guests and then the foam machine was activated. I have never been at a foam party before and whilst I like bubbles in a bath this was a whole new level. Getting in amongst the foam bubbles was awesome, it was a bit scary when they went over my head and I lost my spatial awareness, but I was soon able to find an area that had less bubbles in.
After the foam party it was clean up time and then back to my hotel. Where on getting back I found my nose was blocked and on blowing it I had mud come out! So thanks for that Ari! I was back at the hotel for 1830 and after my dinner I was in bed for 2130 and out like a light. It had been a good day.
I have agreed (027) to be filmed and have it published, so I will be looking forward to seeing that. So watch this space!
I would like to thank Lisa and Leo Moomin for organising a great day, the models who took part and all the stage crew without whom the day would not have worked. I thanked both Lisa and Leo on the day but I hope this will act as formal thank you.
I will leave the final words of this blog, based on a conversation I had with Leon at the end of the day and he asked me what I thought of the day and I agreed with his statement but didn't say it myself so here it is.
The day was legen... wait for it.. dary
