What is Messtival, I hear you cry?

Well, if you didn't already know then you've been living under a rock, because it's only the First (and best) WAM Film Festival & Awards Ceremony, back again for another year of chaos after a roaring success at our first splosh cinema event in London in 2019.


That's right, we're putting on another event to screen your messy and wetlook films - this time, though, it's not just a cinema... We've only gone and gotten an entire bloody theatre to hold it at!


Film submissions and nominations for awards are open now so get thinking about what you'd like to submit and who you'd like to nominate! Films will be selected by a panel and awards will be voted for by the WAM community.

Once again we'll have an array of fantastic producers & performers presenting the awards, and you'll be able to mingle with everyone and meet your favourite models both before and afterwards too.

Dress code: Dress to impress, this is an awards show after all! Red carpet/smart/suits/fancy dresses/etc - t-shirts are only acceptable if you bought them from the Messtival merch store (merch.messtival.co.uk).

Ginger Johnson is one of my favourite drag queens and I was honoured to be asked to consult on Good Clean Fun along with some other incredible creators & performers from the WAM community, I can't wait to watch the show with you all!

"When a shocking revelation from the past comes back to haunt her, Ginger Johnson is thrown into a world of shame, desire... and instant custard.
It's 2011 and Johnson is working in a baked potato shop in Newcastle and moonlighting as a drag queen in East London. Fuelled by cheesy beans and a thirst for attention, she makes a silly video of herself getting covered in ketchup and posts it on the internet. It gets 15 likes.
Fast forward 10 years and the long-since-forgotten video has found its audience but not quite the one she was expecting.

FAQ

What is Messtival?

Messtival is a social event and screening of wet & messy films in an independent cinema on Sunday, with a glamorous awards ceremony during to award the stars of the WAM community! Sexy, slapstick, silly, rude, crude, wild and whacky short films from the wet & messy community will be shown at our very own private event.


Will I get messy?
We don't have any in-person mess planned, just lots and lots of messy movies - but hang around afterwards for Ginger Johnson's show GOOD CLEAN FUN which is very very messy indeed!

Will there be filming/photography?
We will have a photographer attending the event to document it; they won't take any photos of you if you don't want to be in any. We'll film the awards ceremony, but this will just be the stage & award winners.

Is there a dress code?
We encourage you to dress up - there's no way I'm hosting an awards ceremony without a gown, obviously but if you don't have a tuxedo or tophat to hand to go full-on black tie, then please just dress smartly.

This is cool! How can I help?
I hope to recoup most running costs from ticket sales, but opened a merchandise store for people who wanna donate and get a cool t-shirt out of it! http://merch.messtival.co.uk we're also accepting any submissions for designs to be sold for a limited run.

Sponsorship slots are available for companies & studios who'd like to support us and spread the word about their services/sites!

Otherwise the best way to show your support for the event is by helping promote it by telling your friends, joining in on the excitement on social media & letting your fans know about it and encouraging them to nominate you as much as possible.
