How to Silver Paint MessyBy MewLeticiaPosted 2/19/23 482 views
We will discuss how we prepare for a shoot with silver paint and how we make sure it is perfectly restored to its original state. This technique can be used for gold paint.
Please note that you are solely responsible for your own practice of what we are about to describe. We are not responsible for any injuries or accidents that may occur as a result of our practices.
[Creating silver paint]
(1) Materials
The materials to produce silver paint are "aluminum powder" and "vegetable oil (or herbarium oil).
Please do your own Googe search or get information from your Messy-savvy acquaintances on where to buy aluminum powder. We obtain ours through a mail order site run by a domestic company that sells metal powder. An alternative to aluminum powder is to use gold or silver makeup powder, even for stage makeup, from a manufacturer called MEHRON. We have no experience using them, so we do not know their characteristics or how they are used. Also, the unit price per weight is very expensive compared to aluminum powder.
Vegetable oil is readily available and probably needs no explanation. Ordinary vegetable oil is sufficient for the oil, but olive oil seems to suppress the odor and make the metallic luster more prominent. This point has not been tested.
(2) How to make
Pour oil into aluminum powder and stir with a slightly thicker paintbrush or your fingers. In our experience, mixing aluminum powder and oil at a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 by weight gives just the right consistency. Stirring should be done gently. If you agitate too vigorously, aluminum powder will scatter. When working for the first time, it is advisable to apply a small amount of oil to the skin and check the glow and concentration before mixing. If there is too much oil, the transparency of the oil will stand out and the luster of the silver will be lost. Luster is paramount in silver paint!
(3) Caution!
Handle aluminum powder with care. Aluminum powder generates hydrogen when it comes into contact with water, acid, alcohol, etc. This causes even small sparks to easily explode. This can easily cause explosive combustion of even small sparks. When handling, make sure that there are no open flames in the vicinity. Also, avoid water.
Always wear a mask when handling aluminum powder. A common mask that you normally use will suffice. Aluminum powder is a very light substance and will certainly scatter when removed from the bag. If possible, handle it outdoors. If this seems difficult, we recommend doing it in an area with a ventilation fan, or in a place where the floor and walls can be rinsed off, such as a bathroom. In the latter case, keep water away.
[Preparation for implementation]
(1) Location Preparation
Before enjoying silver painting, first consider the place where it will be done. The best place is the bathroom. This is because you can take a shower right after you are done, and you can easily wash off any paint that gets on the floor or walls. In short, a place where it is safe to get dirty is all that is needed. We recommend that the floors and walls be pre-cured. Thin plastic sheets available at home centers are ideal. This is absolutely necessary if you are doing this outside of the bathroom, for example in the living room or bedroom.
You also need to be prepared to hydrate. In my experience, you will be surprisingly thirsty during the silver painting process. Have your favorite beverage ready in a plastic bottle.
(2) Preparation for cleanup
In order to completely remove the silver applied to your body, you will need to prepare accordingly.
Shampoo, body soap, kitchen paper or a few throw-away towels, a few garbage bags, and salad oil.
(3) Photographic equipment
If you want to film yourself doing silver paint, prepare the filming equipment you are accustomed to using. It is recommended that you cover the aircraft with a thin plastic wrap. Handle your filming equipment carefully, as dirt is the main focus of the shoot.
[Painting silver]
There is nothing special to talk about here. Just enjoy painting the whole body silver. You can use a brush to apply the paint more beautifully, and you can also enjoy the slightly humiliating sensation of being painted by someone else. Be careful not to splash the paint around. There is no particular order in which to apply the paints, but I have decided to apply the face last. This is because it is the most fun and one of the most exciting parts of the photo shoot.
[Washing the body]
After you have had your fill of silver, you have a big job to do. The first step is to wash your body. If you leave silver paint on your body, it may induce skin diseases. It also catches the eye of a third party in terms of appearance. I once was very upset when a friend pointed this out to me, not realizing that I had left silver on a small part of my ear (I don't remember how I fooled around with it). If you've ever wanted to have some fun with silver paint, read this section carefully!
(1) Wipe it off with a paper towel.
Before using water or body soap, first wipe off as much paint as possible from your body and hair. Please prepare as many paper towels as possible. Wiping off the paint will reduce some of the moisture repulsion caused by the oil-based paint. At this point, the silver color cannot be completely wiped off. When wiping the body, apply more salad oil to lift out the silver powder coated on the skin, which will remove it well.
(2) Washing hair
Basically, body washing is done from the top of the body down. Use more shampoo and wash your hair multiple times so that it lathers well. the first time, it does not lather easily due to the paint on the hair. the second time, it will gradually start to lather, so do not panic. While washing your hair, also soap up the paint on your face, but you do not need to rinse it off completely at this point.
(Supplementation: Aluminum powder containing oil does not react with water.)
(3) Washing the body
Soak the utensil or towel you normally use to wash your body with more body soap. Wash your body softly, as if you are gently stroking it. Never use more force than necessary. It may cause damage to the skin. Also, as mentioned earlier, the order of washing should be from the neck down to the chest and abdomen. At this stage, wash the body with the intention of washing off about 90% of the paint. After the second wash, consider washing the paint off cleanly. And please wash the soles of your feet carefully for after this.
Check the areas that were hard to reach when you were washing the body. Areas to pay special attention to are "the line from the shoulders to the elbows, the backs of the ears, the back (especially near the shoulder blades), and the backs and bulges of the knees. If two people enjoyed silver painting together, check each other's bodies after washing. If you are alone, check in the mirror.
By the way, you may feel thirsty after a long shower. If you feel so, rehydrate yourself immediately.
(4) Wash your face
The face is the most visible part of the body to a third party. Use soap or a facial cleanser and wash frequently. As experienced silver painters know, there is one area where it is difficult to remove paint. That is the "lower eyelid. It is more efficient and safer to wipe this area with a cotton swab moistened with baby oil than to scrub it with soap. It is not too late to do this after everything is done and settled.
[Cleaning]
This is the most important part. I consider cleanup to be the most important element of Messy.
First, remove the curing and put it in a garbage bag. Next, clean the walls, then the floor. There should be silver paint all over the walls and floors. Wash them clean as if you were cleaning a bath. At this time, if the soles of your feet are dirty, the washed floor will become dirty again.
[Finishing touches]
Before leaving the bathroom, check again that there is no paint on your body. Also make sure that the bathroom has been cleaned.
If everything is complete, your job is done. Good job!
[Aftercare]
Take care of your face and body with body lotion. You can use whatever method you usually use in your daily life. Anyway, take care of your skin. Also, your body should be very tired by this point. Take a good rest.
Also, there is a small amount of silver dust in your pores. This can be removed by sweating. If possible, I suggest you go into the sauna right away to sweat it out, but if your body is feeling tired, avoid it. I am not a big sauna person, so I try to sweat it out the next day by jogging.
[Lastly]
Messy by silver paint is a lot of fun, but it also takes a lot of work. When all is said and done, quite a bit of time will have passed. Allow plenty of time the first time you do it. If you have any questions, please send me a direct message. We will tell you as much as we can.
