for a good slime.

my slime menu. thoughts/advise/sharing welcome!

Green Apple
------------
applesauce, any flavor/color gelatin powder (I like green for this one); vanilla pudding or corn syrup optional
Combine in any amount and mix with spatula; lime gelatin used mostly for color.
Pros: cheap and easy to find ingredients, can be washed down drains, completely edible, great texture
Cons: low viscosity, difficult to wash out of hair, gelatin powder may stain skin, requires several washes to remove sugary feel

Blue Man Goop
------------
guar gum, water (near-boiling), poster paint (my preference is blue)
Use a drill and paint/mud mixer to start a swift whirlpool in the water. SLOWLY dust guar gum into the whirlpool to avoid clumping. A 1:10 mixture of water:guar will work, but doesn't need to be exact. If you can wait, allow it to sit...as the gum hydrates, the slime will thicken. I add my color last, stirring slowly with a paint stirrer (or my arms if I just have to feel it).
Pros: excellent coverage and feel, adjustable viscosity, water-soluble for cleanup
Cons: NOT edible, smells like beans (really), difficult to mix, relatively expensive and difficult to find locally if you don't live near a health food store

Test Purple
------------
This one's a bit of a science experiment. Xanthan gum is slightly more expensive than guar gum, is just as difficult to mix, but is generally considered the superior of the two. It is easily purchased at health food stores. I'm going to try adding polyethylene glycol (PEG, used as a laxative and also easily purchased) or ethanol (most likely in the form of vodka) to the dry xanthan gum prior to mixing because sciencesciencescience they might prevent clumping. I'll also try out some color options but poster paint is hard to beat (I've decided this one is purple).
